About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

The Saltvik Business Area includes the prisons in Saltvik, Härnösand, and Ljustadalen, as well as the Saltvik remand prison. The business area offers a wide range of facilities, from the open women's prison in Ljustadalen to the closed prison in Saltvik, which, in addition to normal wards, has one of the country's three security units. The Härnösand prison is also a closed facility. The largest professional group is prison officers, but healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others also work here. The inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or work in the prisons' packaging/assembly, laundry, or carpentry departments. You can easily reach the Saltvik prison and remand prison by bus or car, parking at our staff parking lot. The Härnösand prison is located in the town center with good bus connections and staff parking. The Ljustadalen prison is located just outside Birsta and also offers staff parking and good bus connections.

Job Description

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides some open healthcare, which means that all prisons and remand prisons have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek care. The clinics have, in addition to nurses, general practitioners and psychiatrists. As a nurse, you have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you also assess which applicants should see a doctor. This means you work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for the inmates, assist at the doctor's clinic, and administer medication primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation currently takes place in the journal system PMO. We are simultaneously in a transition phase to the new business system CGMJ4.

As a nurse at VO Saltvik, you will be employed within the entire business area. This means that if needed, you may support your colleagues at all business locations where your skills are most needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and self-aware. You find it easy to cooperate with other people and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you are calm, stable, and controlled. You have great integrity and the ability to make correct assessments and prioritizations. You are quality-conscious and meticulous, and have the ability to structure your approach yourself and drive your processes forward.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for someone who has:

• Registered Nurse license
• Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
• Category B driver's license

The following is also meritorious:

• A specialization or further education relevant to the employer, for example within psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills
