We are looking for you who want to work as a Guide at Stockholm City Mission's meeting places in Hässelby and Tensta.
Hässelby Meeting Place is one of Stockholm City Mission's open meeting places that offer community and support in a safe environment. We meet people with different types of needs and in different life situations on a daily basis. As a guide, you have an important and central role. Our guides support many people every day who visit the organization's various activities: open meeting places, group activities, excursions, and in guiding conversations.
Adult participants living in vulnerable situations can turn to the organization for basic needs support, which includes food, shower, and laundry. For families with children and young people, we have daily activities aimed at creating inclusion, increasing knowledge, and building networks.
We also offer support for more lasting and long-term change for our participants. This is primarily done by employed social workers or lawyers within the organization, but guides also play an important role in the change process. To succeed well with this, knowledge of society's welfare system and the different roles and responsibilities of authorities is required.
- Post-secondary education such as social pedagogue, treatment assistant, leisure-time pedagogue, or equivalent as assessed by the employer
- Experience working with people seeking support
- Experience working with children/young people/parents
- You identify with Stockholm City Mission's values
Meritorious:
- Language skills such as Dari, Polish, Tigrinya, Arabic, and Romanian.
- Previous experience working at a meeting place where social guidance was included.
- Experience working with children and young people with NPD (neuropsychiatric disabilities).
- Knowledge of LAB (low-affective handling).
To thrive in the role, we believe you are solution-focused, positive, and stress-resistant. The operations are dynamic and changing, which places demands on flexibility and adaptation among our employees. The work involves taking personal responsibility for certain activities, sometimes in a team together with colleagues, so we value that you are creative, driven, and self-starting.
We offer
The position is located at Hässelby and Tensta Meeting Places and is a one-year full-time (100%) temporary position. The work takes place mainly Monday-Friday but also some Saturdays and public holidays. As a guide, you work approximately two evenings/week. Additionally, some working time during the summer may be located at our colleague farm Stenfasta. Start: August-September or by agreement. We apply a 6-month probationary period. Invitations to interviews will take place only after the application period has ended.
We offer an open and welcoming workplace with engaged and non-hierarchical colleagues. Together we work to make a difference for the people Stockholm City Mission meets, and we dare to promise that you will see that your efforts yield great returns for the operations you work with.
Application
In this recruitment, Stockholm City Mission has chosen to remove the cover letter from the recruitment process. Instead, we ask selection questions during the application to learn more about your motivation/interest and how well you meet the job's requirement profile.
Welcome with your application!
Stockholm City Mission is a non-profit organization working to create a more humane society for everyone. We do this by working with social care, education, and labor integration. Something we have done since 1853 when we were founded to help those who had it worst in society.
Our goal is for everyone to get new life chances, strengthen their self-efficacy, and be included in society. Stockholm City Mission offers people emergency help, advice, and support for social rights, housing, work training, and education to prevent and break exclusion. Our primary tool is that people strengthen their belief in themselves and their own abilities. In this way, we create together a sustainable and more humane society for everyone.
