Within our care services, we work to create a meaningful everyday life for children and young people with various disabilities. We support and encourage our users so that they can live as independent and rich a life as possible, with security, joy, and community as guiding stars.

We run several facilities for children and young people, including short-term accommodation, short-term supervision, youth housing, and housing with special support for children.

We are now looking for a support assistant for a children's home in Visby. Currently, one child lives here, which gives you the opportunity to build a close and secure relationship and be an important adult in the child's daily life. Together, you create a home-like and safe environment where the child has the opportunity to develop, feel included, and do well.

Your responsibilities

As an employee, you become an important part of the children's daily lives. Here you meet children with neuropsychiatric, intellectual, and physical disabilities in a warm, home-like environment. You work based on decisions according to the LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) and have close cooperation with other important people in the children's lives.

A typical workday may involve supporting with meals and morning routines, ensuring the children get to school, welcoming them when they return home, and providing care, such as hygiene and showering. You create and participate in activities that inspire, develop, and bring joy, and you are a secure role model and a stable presence.

Working hours vary between day, evening, sleeping night, and weekends.

Who are you?

We are primarily looking for you who are a support assistant and have upper secondary education in care and nursing, child and youth care, are trained as a social pedagogue and/or personal assistant, preferably with a focus on social work. A B-class driver's license is required for the position.

It is an advantage if you have education and/or experience working in care for people with intellectual disabilities, preferably with children or young people. It is also an advantage if you have experience with pedagogical working methods, challenging behavior, low-affective approach, sign communication and picture support, as well as knowledge of LSS, SoL (Social Services Act), and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to working with children and young people and who see each child's unique needs. You feel secure both working independently and together with colleagues, and contribute warmth, care, and stability to everyday life.

Your positive and service-oriented attitude means you readily find creative ways to plan and carry out activities that stimulate the children's development based on their needs and wishes.

Since the work may involve both lifting and playful activities, you must have good physical fitness and enjoy being active – whether outdoors in the fresh air or indoors.
