About the department/group

The position is located at the Division of Applied Thermodynamics and Refrigeration within the Department of Energy Technology. The work is carried out in a creative and dynamic environment, involving close collaboration with many industrial partners, other technical staff, the lab manager, researchers, doctoral students, and students. The division is globally known for its research in the field of heat pumps and refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities primarily involve supporting our laboratory and experimental activities. The position includes the following tasks and areas of responsibility:

• Mechanical manufacturing (turning, milling, welding, hard soldering, etc.).
• Assembly of prototypes and lab rigs, commissioning, and technical support.
• Design support in experimental research and education projects in consultation with researchers and doctoral students (including assessment of manufacturing documents for external production).
• Purchasing management / support.
• Participation in the development of risk analyses.
• Fire safety officer (training provided by employer), chemical safety officer in collaboration with colleagues.
• Maintenance and service of the laboratory and workshop infrastructure.

Qualifications

Requirements

• At least upper secondary education in mechanics or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of 3-phase electricity.
• Basic knowledge of English, as it is required in daily work.
• Experience with refrigeration and heat pump systems (refrigeration technology).

We are looking for someone who is generally practical and handy with an interest in energy-related issues. In your professional role, you are creative and flexible, with good teamwork skills and a propensity to work independently in a dynamic work environment.
