At the MEX and Project Department of the Technical and Community Planning Administration, we manage some of Region Gotland's largest community planning and investment projects. We are responsible for land and development issues and carry out development projects as well as construction, land, and infrastructure projects that develop infrastructure and the public environment on behalf of other departments within Region Gotland.
The assignments are broad and varied; ranging from water and wastewater (VA) and waste projects to the development of public spaces such as streets, roads, parks, squares, and community buildings like schools, health centers, and nursing homes. The department also includes a procurement and tendering function.
We currently have 50 employees at the department. On the VA, Land, and Infrastructure unit, 12 dedicated and competent employees work with a broad base of experience and various specialist competencies. Together, we work closely to find sustainable solutions and deliver high-quality projects that make a real difference for the residents, visitors, and businesses of Gotland.
Here, you have the opportunity to influence both the development of operations and future community planning on Gotland. We believe in close collaboration where we share knowledge, support each other, and develop together. We have an open and non-hierarchical work climate where commitment, responsibility, and trust are the foundation of our work.
Your responsibilities
As the Project Unit Manager, you lead a unit of 12 employees responsible for the implementation of Region Gotland's investment projects within VA, land, and infrastructure.
You have overall responsibility for operations, economy, personnel, and working environment. The role involves leading, prioritizing, and developing operations so that projects are carried out efficiently, with high quality, and within decided frameworks.
As a unit manager, you are part of the MEX and Project Department's management group, where you, together with other unit managers and senior experts, contribute to the department's strategic development. You collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and political representatives, and represent the unit in various forums.
Who are you?
You are a secure, stable, and engaged leader who creates trust through clear and inclusive leadership. You motivate your employees, create involvement, and provide conditions for both individual and operational development.
You have a strategic approach while thriving close to the operations. You work systematically, plan, and prioritize work efficiently, and have good problem-solving analytical skills that allow you to analyze complex issues and make well-founded decisions even when conditions change.
The role involves many contact surfaces, so you are communicative, relationship-building, and have an easy time collaborating with different professions and stakeholders. You have good cultural awareness and contribute to an inclusive work climate where different perspectives and experiences are valued.
We are looking for someone who
- Has an academic degree in VA, land, and infrastructure, community planning, urban planning, or another education that the employer considers equivalent
- Has experience of leadership as a manager or in another leading role
- Expresses yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and has a B-class driver's license
It is meritorious if you have

- Experience of being a manager for white-collar workers
- A Master's degree
We look forward to your application!
