We are looking for a passionate conservation biologist to strengthen our team during the field season of 2025, who wants to make a difference for our nature and contribute to long-term sustainability. The position involves responsible work to protect and preserve biodiversity in the region.

Your main tasks as a conservation biologist

· Conduct nature value inventories according to SS 199000:23, species protection investigations, and also in-depth species inventories depending on competence

· Nature value assessments both in the field and remotely

· Planning of permit projects and collaboration with project managers as well as proposing protective measures

· Compilation of inventory reports and advice on biodiversity

· Create map materials and conduct analyses using GIS programs

Your profile

As a person, you are flexible and communicative with good collaboration skills. You are structured and meticulous with the ability to prioritize. You long to work in a dynamic environment with varied tasks and many contacts in a modern company with short decision-making paths. You are good at writing reports in Swedish. You take initiative and can see what needs to be done to improve and support the organization.

You are an educated biologist with a focus on conservation or ecology or possess equivalent relevant knowledge with at least 3 years of relevant work experience. You can navigate GIS programs and have previously independently conducted field inventories according to SIS standards (199000:2023) and look forward to continuing this work.

You have documented good knowledge of species identification during different seasons, habitat requirements, and distribution regarding vascular plants and conservation species in northern Sweden and have experience in inventorying these within infrastructure environments over the past 3 years. You also have experience in handling environmental issues (for example, preparing documentation for permit/application matters, working with environmental impact assessments, or equivalent investigative work within the natural environment).

Knowledge of species identification in birds, insects, fungi, and/or lichens is an advantage.

Location

Umeå. Fieldwork takes place at various locations in Västerbotten and Norrbotten, overnight stays in other locations may occur. For office tasks, the work is done from your home.
