Job Responsibilities
All work is performed with awake double staffing, and the employment begins with thorough training and introduction. Therefore, no prior knowledge or previous care experience is required.
Here you are offered a meaningful, awake night shift as a personal assistant, focusing on supervision and care of a 16-month-old boy in his home. The boy was born with a weakened windpipe and therefore breathes through a small plastic tube in his throat (a so-called Trach). Otherwise, he is a happy and fully healthy little boy. During the night, your main task is to watch over him while he sleeps to ensure he sleeps safely. This means you monitor the tracheostomy and ensure the plastic tube is kept clean using a convenient steam machine and a small medical "vacuum".
In addition to supervision, the role includes simpler practical tasks, such as inventorying materials in the storage room, ensuring the boy's clothes are in order, and that pacifiers are cleaned for the coming day. The boy usually sleeps through the night, which means night shifts are generally characterized by silence and calm – while your presence and attention are always important.
The family consists of the boy, his mother and father, and the family dog. They live in a large, newly renovated villa with good bus connections and good conditions for a pleasant working environment.
Working hours are from 21:00 to 07:00, and shifts may occur on weekdays and weekends.
We are looking for you who:
We believe that your personal qualities are crucial for thriving in the role and succeeding in the assignment. You are a child-loving and caring person who genuinely enjoys working with small children and contributing to their sense of security. Continuity and stability are important in this assignment, so we are looking for you who want to work long-term in the role and see the value in following a child over time.
As a person, you are calm, empathetic, and responsible. You have a good ability to be present and attentive even in calm and quiet environments. You understand that night work requires structure around sleep and recovery to stay awake and focused even during quiet nights. You are comfortable occupying yourself during quiet moments while always keeping the child's needs in focus. Furthermore, you are punctual, reliable, and flexible, with the ability to cover for colleagues if needed. You also have a good understanding of what it means to work in someone's home and always act professionally, respectfully, and sensitively in the home environment.
All necessary training and introduction are provided on-site, so previous experience is not a requirement for the role. You may have worked with children or in healthcare and social care, or you might just be a naturally child-loving, responsible, and caring person looking for long-term work.
Requirements for the position:
- Swedish language skills (spoken and written)
- Non-smoker
Merits:
- Experience working with children
- Experience from healthcare or social care
START: Immediately
SCOPE: 75% with possibility to 100%
SELECTION: Ongoing
