Physiotherapist at the Red Cross Treatment Centre, based in Umeå and Luleå
The Swedish Red Cross Treatment Centre provides treatment to individuals with migrant backgrounds who have been traumatized by torture, war, or flight experiences. Currently, 10 staff members work at our clinics in Skellefteå, Luleå, and Umeå. We are now seeking two physiotherapists at 75% (or alternatively one at 100% and one at 50%) based at the clinics in Umeå and Luleå respectively.
We work in a team with psychologists, counselors, and physiotherapists, designing treatment plans based on the patient's conditions and needs. In addition to standard treatment with regular contacts, we also offer intensive treatment, group sessions, and digital visits when necessary. Our patients are adults and youth aged 16 and above, and we also maintain contact with adult relatives and children.
About the role
As a physiotherapist, you will conduct initial assessments of patients starting treatment and then plan your treatment interventions together with the patient and the rest of the team. You will have the opportunity to provide individual treatment, lead various types of groups, and collaborate with other healthcare providers. The role includes regular travel to Skellefteå.
In addition to patient work, the role involves development work, knowledge development, and knowledge dissemination. We collaborate with other treatment centres within the Swedish Red Cross and receive support from a competence centre linked to universities for research projects. Staff members regularly give lectures in various contexts to spread knowledge about war and torture trauma as well as migration stress. Employees with an interest in this area have the opportunity to apply for international training assignments.
We have regular supervision, treatment conferences every week, and offer opportunities for competence development. The operations are constantly evolving, and the role also offers the possibility of exchanging experience and knowledge with experienced colleagues from different professional groups within the entire Health and Care department, which currently has around 100 employees, as well as the opportunity to contribute to one of the world's leading crisis and disaster organizations.
