Do you want to work with analysis, development, and improvements that contribute to safe and efficient railway transport? Kiruna Wagon is a leading Nordic provider of innovative freight wagon systems and is now looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Kiruna.
The role aims to ensure high operational safety, technical availability, and cost-effectiveness in the company's equipment and facilities. By combining technical analysis with practical improvement work, you will have the opportunity to influence how our products are maintained, developed, and perform over time.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will work directly under our Technical Manager, in close collaboration with both designers and the maintenance operations. The role focuses on the analysis, development, and optimization of maintenance strategies, as well as providing technical support to the maintenance department. To succeed in this role, you should be a team player with strong collaboration skills across different functions within the business. The position involves some travel, including to our maintenance sites in Pitkäjärvi and Aitik.
We offer a central role where you contribute significantly to optimizing the lifespan of wagons and components within our maintenance contracts. The job also includes ensuring correct documentation, traceability, and structure in the maintenance system, as well as monitoring and controlling inventory levels of spare parts related to maintenance contracts.

Responsibilities
- Data collection and analysis of wheel damage and wheel wear
- Analysis of operational data, damage, wear, and relevant key performance indicators
- Creation and monitoring of maintenance plans for wagons and components
- Investigation and handling of technical deviations related to maintenance tasks
- Drive improvement measures together with designers and project managers
- Planning and execution of smaller maintenance projects
- Ensure documentation, traceability, and structure in the maintenance system
- Monitoring and control of spare parts inventory related to maintenance contracts
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Documented technical work experience or post-secondary education in engineering, maintenance, or equivalent
- Strong analytical skills and interest in technical problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and drive issues forward
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
Merits
Experience in the railway sector is a plus, as is knowledge of:
- EN 1090/ISO 3834 and EN 15085
- Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM)
- Lean as a working method
