Your new job

We are now looking for an independent, engaged, and inspiring Head Cook who wants to make a difference every day. With us, you do not just cook food – you contribute to the children's energy, development, and well-being.

As Head Cook, you are responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking nutritious meals based on set menus. You serve the food with joy and a warm welcome that contributes to a positive dining experience for our children and students. In this role, you are an important part of the team and actively contribute to developing the kitchen's operations. You also work to ensure that routines within hygiene, safety, and quality are followed, so that we can offer safe and high-quality meals every day.

Examples of tasks:

• Cook good, well-prepared, and nutritious food from scratch
• Serve meals to children and staff with a focus on quality and service
• Create meals that are healthy, sustainable, and appreciated by our guests
• Plan menus and order ingredients
• Be a positive ambassador for the kitchen and engage children and students in the meal
• Integrate the meal as part of learning and development
• Work actively to reduce food waste
• Work independently
• Participate in other tasks that occur in the kitchen

As Head Cook in our kitchens, you work together with happy, positive, and engaged colleagues who are passionate about creating good and healthy food and contributing to a positive school environment. Creative kitchens create joy in food together. We work with a clear focus on food waste, readiness, and meal pedagogy.

You belong to Jönköping Municipality's meal organization and are part of a geographical area with several kitchens. Meal area 7 includes five primary schools and seven preschools where we cook approximately 2700 portions every day, always from scratch. With us, the meal is a central part of the day. The dining room is characterized by a warm, safe, and welcoming atmosphere where we put the children's well-being and comfort first.

In our kitchens, we combine joy in food with care. We prepare nutritious and tasty meals with a focus on quality, sustainability, and ingredients that make a difference. Through active work with meal pedagogy and reduced food waste, we create not just good food – we also contribute to the children's learning about health, environment, and good eating habits.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who have a great interest in cooking and a passion for working with good, sustainable ingredients. The food should be both tasty and nutritious, with a focus on quality and sustainability. We value that you have experience cooking from scratch and adapting meals to the specific needs of children.

As a person, you are an engaged team player who enjoys working together with both educators and kitchen staff to create a safe and inspiring dining environment for the children. You are happy to share your knowledge and joy of work and contribute to a positive and collaborative work climate.

We are also looking for you who find it easy to follow given guidelines and ways of working, while also having a commitment to developing the operations. You see opportunities for improvement and are willing to take initiative to continuously contribute to the development of the kitchen's work and quality.

Requirements:

• Education as a cook/chef.
• Meritorious with experience from large-scale kitchens or restaurants.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Basic IT skills.
• Category B driver's license.
