Do you want to make a real difference? Here you contribute to creating safety for people and societies. What you do matters.
Your Role
As a Systems Safety Engineer with us, you will play a key role in the safety assurance process to ensure that technical systems are approved for use. You will be part of project groups whose goal is to develop and maintain our wide portfolio of exciting products. The role also includes responsibility for preventing potential accidents causing injury, property damage, and environmental harm. The analyses performed cover the entire lifecycle of the systems, including hardware, software, and interaction with users and other external systems.
You will work with the team to develop, structure, and manage safety requirements, conduct risk identification and risk analyses, and ensure that measures are documented, implemented, and followed up. The role involves participating in design work, technical analyses, tests, and verifications to ensure that the systems meet all requirements from a systems safety perspective.
You will collaborate closely with subsystem and component managers and be part of cross-functional project teams, including systems engineers, test managers, and specialists in software, mechanics, electronics, and strength of materials.
The work involves handling several parallel assignments with varying complexity, where a structured approach according to established processes is central. Upon starting, you will receive a thoughtful introduction to the role and be assigned an experienced mentor to support you in both the technical work and your long-term development.
We are looking for someone who combines a holistic perspective with technical depth – you methodically immerse yourself in our systems and explain how they should function for the right recipient. The role spans several technical areas with broad interfaces throughout the organization.
The location is Arboga, but Linköping serves as an alternative. Travel is involved in the work.
Your Profile
We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in technology and are motivated by working with complex systems where safety, quality, and precision are crucial. You thrive in a role where you can combine technical understanding with a systems perspective and contribute to identifying, analyzing, and handling safety-related challenges throughout the development process.
As a person, you are analytical and structured, with the ability to see both details and the big picture. You take responsibility for your work, enjoy collaborating with different competencies, and have an easy time creating understanding around technical issues. To succeed in the role, you need to be curious, solution-oriented, and able to make well-founded assessments based on requirements, risks, and technical prerequisites.
To be successful in the role, we see that you have:
- A Master of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent education.
- At least three years of experience in systems work within software, mechanics, or electronics.
- Experience with system architecture and requirements management.
- Experience working according to established standards in the field, such as MIL-STD-882E or equivalent.
- Experience with lean and/or agile working methods in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate the system's function, architecture, and technical stances to various stakeholders.
- Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
We consider it meritorious if you also have experience from safety-critical development environments and feel comfortable in the borderland between technology, requirements, and safety. Previous experience from regulated industries or work with systems safety issues is particularly valuable.
It is therefore meritorious if you have:
- Experience from thesis projects or projects involving systems safety or product development.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations such as MIL-STD-882E or similar frameworks.
- Experience from the defense industry, automotive industry, or other regulated and technology-intensive operations.
- Experience working in cross-functional and/or project-oriented teams.
- Experience with verification and validation as well as traceability from requirements to test.
- Domain knowledge in safety-critical or defense-related systems.
The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the current regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
