The Emergency Department (ED) is part of the University Hospital and is organizationally integrated into Primary Care in central Östergötland. We provide emergency care, investigating and treating approximately 58,000 patients per year, of which nearly 20 percent are admitted to the hospital for further care. The clinic naturally provides advanced trauma and emergency care.

Our ambition is to offer the best possible emergency care with high medical competence, as well as empathy and respect for the individual patient. At the Emergency Department, many different competencies and experiences meet, which is one of our greatest strengths. Our employees are highly committed to developing today's emergency care and work intensively to provide safe and dignified care for the acutely ill patient.

What We Offer

For life forward. Region Östergötland has high ambitions and a responsible mission. It is about health and care, about the development of our region, and about those who live and visit here. We want to continue to be at the forefront with care, research, and education. This means daring to think new thoughts – and having the best employees. Therefore, we offer unique opportunities for further learning and invest in modern environments with efficient systems and tools. Many of us meet patients and relatives, while others create the conditions for vital interventions. Here, fantastic people work towards the same goal – to make a real difference, and for life forward.

Upon hiring as a nurse at the Emergency Department, you will start with a six-week introduction. The introduction includes, among other things, training and practice in the medical technology equipment used in the emergency department.

There are good opportunities for independent responsibility and great possibilities to contribute to the development of the operations as a whole, which is why we would like to see that you have an interest in development. If you enjoy varied days, a fast pace, want to develop your skills as a nurse, and meet new challenges where no day is like the other, you are welcome to apply to us!

We work around the clock and apply an individual schedule over a period of eight weeks. We have our own emergency agreement which implies time quota linked to inconvenient working hours, which can enable a working time down to a minimum of 32 hours/week.

Please read about our career ladder for nurses and also about your benefits with us.

Job Description

An emergency team consists of an assistant nurse, a nurse, and a doctor with shared patients, working hours, and workplaces. The daily work is led together by a lead nurse and a lead physician (on-call in emergency care). Students are important to us and are therefore also a natural part of the teams. In your role as a nurse, it is required that you can work independently and see your role in the team to be able to make decisions and prioritize for the benefit of the patients and the team.

About You

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse or specialist nurse and also have a few years of experience in the profession. Orientation towards emergency care and experience of emergency care are meritorious. You have very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

As a person, you find it easy to collaborate within the team and with other professional groups. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts in a constructive way. You have an interest in being part of the development and you are flexible and find it easy to adapt to changed circumstances as you prefer to see opportunities and solutions rather than difficulties. In stressful situations, you manage to maintain calm and stability for the patient's best interest and for the team's collaboration to flow smoothly. You realize that your approach is of great importance to the contact you have with patients, which means you have a good ability to meet people where they are in different critical situations. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Application and Employment

We work with continuous selection, and interviews will also take place continuously from week 32.

Before employment in a patient-oriented role within Region Östergötland, you will be asked to fill out a health declaration.

We warmly welcome your application! If you need help registering in the system, please contact Customer Service Support and Service, 010-103 60 00, during office hours.
