Are you a practical problem solver with an eye for logistics and technology? Are you looking for a role where you can combine strategic planning with hands-on technical work – while being trained as a train driver during paid working hours? Then we have the job for you.
At Transdev, we are now looking for ambitious employees for Roslagsbanan for a unique combination role where operational responsibility meets technical expertise. As a ranger with us, you will have a key role in our depot operations. We offer an exciting development journey where you combine practical vehicle handling and operational planning with a complete, internal driver training.
In this versatile position, you become the hub of the depot. You are responsible for optimizing vehicle flow through maintenance and washing cycles, while ensuring that our trains are running and meet the highest safety standards. As a ranger, you work where the need is greatest, which means that working hours may vary and sometimes fall at inconvenient times such as early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
About the role
In this versatile position, you become the hub of the depot. You are responsible for optimizing vehicle flow through maintenance and washing cycles, while ensuring that our trains are running and meet the highest safety standards.
The role is divided into four main areas:
Vehicle operation: You maneuver Roslagsbanan's vehicles in varying environments. This includes shunting within the depot area, towing vehicles, and critical test drives after technical measures. After completing the training, you will also drive the trains in regular traffic with passengers.
Practical technical work: You work hands-on with troubleshooting, repairs, and fault resolution. By ensuring that each vehicle meets current safety requirements and documenting the work carefully, you contribute directly to a safe and punctual service for our passengers.
Operational vehicle management: You plan and coordinate the daily flow of preventive and corrective maintenance. By creating efficient plans for train deployment in traffic, you maximize the use of the rolling stock and optimize the depot's processes.
System support and coordination: With the support of tools such as TrainD and Compass, you monitor maintenance needs and resource usage. You act as a professional link between traffic control, maintenance staff, and cleaning contractors to create a seamless operation.
Your profile
To succeed in the role, you thrive in making your own decisions in an event-driven environment where safety always comes first.
We are looking for someone who has:
Technical understanding: Documented technical understanding, for example through a secondary technical education or previous experience from mechanical work, workshop, or industry.
Practical skills: You are comfortable handling tools and performing physical work in a depot environment, such as simpler repairs and inspections.
System proficiency: You have a good ability to quickly familiarize yourself with and work in complex planning and reporting systems.
Meritorious: Experience of similar work within railways, heavy vehicle technology, or logistics management is a big plus.
Formal requirements
At least 20 years old (legal requirement for train drivers).
Very good knowledge of Swedish (spoken and written).
Completed secondary education.
Ability to meet the Transport Agency's health requirements for safety-critical duties.
Personal qualities
Safety-conscious & Meticulous: You never compromise on safety rules and ensure that every vehicle leaving the depot is in top condition.
Independent problem solver: You take initiative to solve technical or logistical obstacles that arise during the shift.
Stress-resistant coordinator: You keep your cool when the traffic plan changes and can quickly reprioritize work in the depot.
What we offer
🎓 Paid education: A complete driver training of approx. 3 months. 🛠️ A versatile career: Combine practical craftsmanship, advanced technology, and operational management. 📈 Development opportunities within vehicle operations and operational management 🛡️ Collective agreement and secure conditions 📍 Stationing in Vallentuna (Molnby) or Stockholm Östra

The process includes online selection tests, personal interviews, occupational psychological tests, and a traffic medical examination.
