Nannaskolan is a municipal upper secondary school in central Uppsala with approximately 450 students in grades 7-9. The school has a clear aesthetic profile where traditional teaching is combined with music, dance, drama, art, and design. The aesthetic work permeates the activities, and concerts, exhibitions, and stage activities are a natural part of everyday life.
The school has its own auditorium that is used frequently, which places demands on a well-functioning physical environment and technical equipment. Here, the caretaker's role plays an important function to ensure that operations run smoothly.
Nannaskolan is characterized by a creative, open, and inclusive culture where students are encouraged to develop based on their prerequisites. Collaboration, well-being, and responsibility are central parts of the working approach, and the staff work closely together to create a safe environment.
The school is housed in a building designed by Gunnar Leche from the 1940s, with bright premises that have been renovated for today's needs while preserving the original character. The schoolyard is central and used actively during the school day.
An important part of the operations is the school restaurant, Nanna Bistro, where food is cooked from scratch by trained chefs. The restaurant has received national attention, including being named Sweden's best school restaurant, and has been awarded the highest honor in the competition Sweden's Public Meals. Description of Duties
As a school caretaker at Nannaskolan, you have a central role in creating a safe, functional, and inspiring school environment. You are responsible for daily supervision of the building and ensure that the school's premises, classrooms, and common areas are well-maintained and functional.
The work includes ongoing maintenance and service, such as simpler repairs, changing light bulbs, assembly, adjusting furniture, and handling equipment. You receive and address fault reports and collaborate with external contractors when necessary.
The role includes responsibility for alarm and access systems, where you handle permissions, keys/tags, and contribute to maintaining good security in the school's premises. You also have responsibility for the school's technical equipment related to sound and light, especially in the auditorium and during gatherings or events. You ensure that the equipment works and adjust sound to a good and appropriate level. You will also support staff in matters regarding technical equipment in the school environment.
As a school caretaker, you are a visible and reassuring adult in the school environment. You are available for students and staff, contribute to supervision and a good school climate. The work also includes supporting practical tasks related to simpler maintenance and some sound technology, as well as supporting students in practical work tasks if needed, for example in student groups or internships.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position:
- Good knowledge of operation, supervision, and basic maintenance of building technical systems in a school environment. You have an understanding of ventilation, heating, lighting, and simpler electrical systems and work with ongoing controls to ensure functionality over time.
- Experience of regular supervision, monitoring operational status, identifying deviations, and preventive work.
- Basic competence in troubleshooting, simpler measures, and assessing when matters should be escalated.
- Experience of fault reports and operational matters and ensuring continuity in technical systems.
- Knowledge of alarm and access systems, including handling permissions and security routines.
- Ability to work independently and preventively with responsibility for stable and efficient operation.
Merits:
- Experience or knowledge in sound and lighting technology, preferably from a school or stage environment.
- Experience with mixing consoles, microphone technology, simpler lighting, and troubleshooting technical equipment.
- Ability to support students and staff in the use of technology in a pedagogical manner.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
In your application, you must state your citizenship.
