About Us

Ward 58 is Region Blekinge's stroke unit. We have 14 permanent care beds for acute stroke care and, subject to availability, also for patients with neurological diseases. The ward is also responsible for the 'Save the Brain' emergency response in eastern Blekinge and performs thrombolysis treatments. Our goal is for all patients with acute stroke to be treated directly on Ward 58.

About the Job

Our tasks vary from day to day. Through teamwork, we collaborate with several other professions, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, speech therapists, and more.

On our ward, stroke patients are cared for from the initial acute handling until discharge or transfer to rehabilitation. A nurse on the ward is responsible for the 'Save the Brain' emergency response; they meet the ambulance at radiology and may initiate thrombolysis treatment there. We actively work to reduce waiting times and develop our stroke care in all areas. Before you take responsibility for the 'Save the Brain' emergency response, you should feel comfortable on the ward and have completed our internal training for this role. We also care for patients with neurological diseases such as brain tumors, MS, ALS, Parkinson's, epilepsy, dizziness, and headaches. The ward currently has 14 care beds divided into two care teams.

Our work is based on a person-centered approach and a holistic view of the patient.

The ward currently has two care teams staffed by nurses and assistant nurses. On weekdays between 07:00 and 15:00, coordinators are on site to handle phone calls, book transports and examinations, and prepare for discharge, among other tasks.

You will have the opportunity to develop professionally with us. All staff can attend stroke competency training. We use the new, web-based training which also awards 3 university credits. We offer various internal trainings, and if interested, you may also have the opportunity to attend relevant external further education courses.

The position involves rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

About You

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse. Previous experience in the profession is valuable, but newly graduated nurses are also warmly welcome. As a person, it is important that you are sensitive, open, and communicative. You see things and take initiative. You have good collaboration skills and actively contribute to a good work environment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and teamwork.

Before Appointment

Region Blekinge mobilizes all permanent staff. Some of our positions are security-classified, meaning the employee must undergo a security screening interview and register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
