Do you want to develop the tools that ensure the railways of the future operate safely and reliably? We are now looking for a DevOps Engineer with experience in Python, CI/CD, and automation who wants to develop next-generation test platforms for safety-critical systems.

The railway industry is facing significant investments and extensive technical development. Our client develops software that controls everything from interlockings and signaling systems to switches and barriers – solutions that contribute daily to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable rail traffic. To ensure high quality throughout the entire development process, they are investing in modern development and test platforms where automation, DevOps, and internal tools play a central role.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a DevOps Engineer, you will become part of a team that develops and maintains the platforms and tools used to build, test, and verify software within the railway signaling system.

This is a role for you who wants to combine software development with DevOps and automation. The focus is on developing internal tools, automating development and test flows, and creating efficient development environments – rather than performing manual tests yourself.

You will primarily work with:

  • Developing and further developing internal tools and applications in Python
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins
  • Automating build, test, and deployment flows
  • Developing and maintaining test environments, simulators, and development platforms
  • Working with container-based solutions in Docker and Kubernetes
  • Developing scripts and tools that streamline the work of developers and test teams
  • Participating in the design and improvement of DevOps processes and development environments
  • Collaborating closely with software developers and test engineers to create scalable and robust solutions
  • Contributing to continuous improvements in automation, tool development, and infrastructure

You will work in a technically advanced environment where software, automation, and safety-critical systems meet. Here, there are great opportunities to influence how development and test platforms are built and further developed, while contributing to solutions used in societal-critical infrastructure.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO HAS

  • A university degree in Technical Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Two to three years of experience in DevOps, software development, or test automation
  • Good knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD, preferably Jenkins
  • Experience with Git and version control
  • Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

The following is a bonus if you have:

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Robot Framework or other test automation frameworks
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Experience with Azure or AWS
  • Experience in developing internal tools or development platforms
  • Experience with safety-critical or embedded systems

To thrive in this role, we believe you are someone driven by automating and streamlining processes. You have a strong technical interest and appreciate working in complex environments where problem-solving and collaboration are a natural part of everyday life. Furthermore, you are curious, structured, and quality-conscious, with a desire to continuously develop both working methods and technical solutions.

ABOUT THE EMPLOYMENT

This is a consultancy assignment, which means that initially, you will be employed by Friday. The ambition from both the Client and our side is that you will eventually be directly employed by the client.
