You will belong to the unit for societal planning and cultural environment. Together, we are responsible for coordinating state interests, national interests, and general interests according to the Environmental Code, the Planning and Building Act, and the Cultural Environment Act. Our duties include supervision in the planning and building sector, consultation and review of decisions regarding municipal comprehensive and detailed plans, as well as state support and grants within the housing and energy sectors and for the care of cultural environments. The tasks also involve working to ensure that our cultural heritage and cultural environments are cared for, preserved, and developed.
About the job
The role of Building Archaeologist suits you if you have knowledge within the building archaeology field and wish to build upon your experience.
You will work together with our three building archaeologists.
Examples of tasks include processing cases within the building archaeology field (grants for the care of cultural environments, decisions on permits regarding building monuments and church cultural monuments, and supervision according to the Cultural Environment Act), responding to internal consultations in permit cases according to the Environmental Code, Planning and Building Act, etc., registering incoming documents and other administrative tasks, and providing advice and instructions to applicants within your area of responsibility. The tasks can be adapted to your background and competence.
The work is constantly evolving, and based on our mandate, the tasks may change over time. Therefore, you need to be able to handle changes. This simultaneously gives you the opportunity to develop and both broaden and deepen your competence with us.
About you
We are looking for you who have:
- An academic bachelor's or master's degree in built heritage studies or alternatively another relevant education that the employer assesses as equivalent
- Experience of similar tasks within the cultural environment field
- Good knowledge of cultural environment legislation
- Good ability to communicate and inform simply and clearly, both in writing and orally in Swedish
- Driver's license for passenger car
As a person, you are responsible, structured, and flexible. You have the ability to prioritize, stick to set timeframes, and see tasks through to completion. You are good at collaborating and communicating with others, and can also work independently with assigned tasks. The work involves collaboration with external parties, and you are good at having dialogue and collaborating with others.
We consider it meritorious if you have:
- Experience of processing cases within public administration, e.g., County Administrative Board, municipality, or museum.
- Experience working with national interest issues and/or societal planning issues according to the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code
- Experience in producing knowledge bases and/or documentation for tenders
- Knowledge within cultural geography

We plan to conduct interviews during weeks 33-34.
We use a six-month probationary period.
If you are called for an interview, you may be asked to complete a work test.
Since some jobs with us require security clearance, you may be asked to undergo a security clearance before employment. This includes a security clearance interview and register check. Swedish citizenship is required for some positions.
