Responsibilities

The responsibilities include staffing and distributing personnel, balancing and prioritizing tasks, and leading daily work. You are responsible for preparing and organizing the next day's production. The role involves leading operational meetings, check-ins, and reporting to the unit manager. You will also welcome and introduce new employees.

The position includes a significant administrative part focusing on planning, follow-up, and coordination, as well as ordering supplies and handling invoicing. In addition, practical tasks such as inventory management, picking supplies, and participating in recipe development are included. You work both operationally and strategically, actively contributing to the development and quality of the business.

Qualifications

You have a restaurant education at the upper secondary level or other educational/professional background deemed suitable by the employer. You have competence in food hygiene and possess strong leadership skills to engage employees and utilize their competencies and ideas. You inspire and create a culture where willingness, joy of work, and differences are integrated in a value-creating way. You feel confident making decisions.

The role places high demands on collaboration, a good attitude, and clear communication. A professional approach and preferably experience leading large-scale kitchen production are required. The work is varied, which requires you to be flexible and have a structured work method. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills, are required. Experience with catering data systems, previous work experience in production kitchens, and supervisory positions are meritorious.

About the position

The position is a full-time permanent employment, Monday–Friday, with start date according to agreement.

Meal Service is responsible for the production and serving of public meals. We work to promote health and offer nutritious, quality-assured, and delicious food to children, young people, and the elderly. We want to create healthy eating habits and contribute to sustainable development. Meal Service is part of the Property and Service Administration, which is also responsible for maintaining municipal buildings and keeping our premises clean and pleasant. Meal Service has four production kitchens, five preparation kitchens, and 46 final preparation kitchens. The Hortlax production kitchen prepares approximately 1400 portions per day for schools, preschools, as well as care and housing facilities, of which approximately 500 portions are served in our student restaurant.
