Gothenburg is growing and changing rapidly – and at the City Property Management, you get to help shape the city's future. Here we plan, build, and manage premises and outdoor environments for Gothenburg City's operations. Every day, hundreds of thousands of Gothenburg residents work in preschools, schools, care facilities, and other premises that we maintain. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to sustainable urban development and develop alongside one of Sweden's largest public property managers and developers.
We at the Management and Property Development department are responsible for ensuring the long-term sustainable usability of the properties with good technical status and satisfied tenants. The department orders and coordinates new construction and renovations, maintenance measures, repairs, and ongoing supervision. We are responsible for requirement setting, support, and development within the entire technical, environmental, and climate areas.
About the position
We are now looking for an Energy Engineer who wants to lead the management's solar energy program and contribute to the future energy systems in Gothenburg City's property portfolio.
At the Energy and Environment unit, we are responsible for technical requirement setting, specialist support, and development within the energy and environment area. We are now looking for an Energy Engineer with a focus on solar energy, where the assignment also includes energy efficiency, power optimization, and the development of future energy solutions.
In this role, you will work both strategically and operationally to develop the management's energy work. You lead and further develop the management's solar energy program, which is to contribute to reduced purchased electricity needs, reduced climate impact, and increased local renewable energy production. The management currently has approximately 200 solar power plants and is facing continued expansion with the goal of producing 35 GWh of solar power by 2030. At the same time, you will be an important part of the development of future energy systems where issues such as battery storage, flexibility, power control, energy sharing, and data-driven energy system optimization become increasingly important. With us, you have the opportunity to influence development in one of Sweden's largest public property portfolios and contribute to Gothenburg City's goal of a climate-neutral and resource-efficient society.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the management's strategic energy work to optimize energy use, power consumption, energy costs, and climate impact at both the building and system levels
- Lead, coordinate, and follow up on the management's solar energy program
- Prepare materials, feasibility studies, and profitability analyses for measures and investments in the energy area, with a special focus on solar energy and solar power plants
- Provide specialist support in energy and solar cells in construction and management projects, as well as review documentation and technical solutions
- Be responsible for technical requirements and instructions (TKA) in the solar energy area and lead the management's technical expert team in solar cells
- Initiate and drive development projects in the energy area with a focus on, for example, solar cells, battery storage, power and flexibility solutions, energy communities, as well as digital tools and AI-based energy system optimization
- Monitor the external environment and translate new knowledge in the energy area into practical solutions for the management's operations
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a relevant technical university education as well as several years of experience working in the energy area. You have a good understanding of building energy systems as well as the interaction between building components and technical installations. You have experience with solar power plants, local energy production, technical requirement setting in the energy area, and evaluation of investments from a life-cycle cost perspective (LCC). It is meritorious if you have experience with energy efficiency, energy analyses, as well as knowledge in battery storage, power issues, energy control, and building construction.
To succeed in the role, you are structured and analytical with the ability to translate complex issues into clear materials, requirements, and recommendations. You work independently and take responsibility for driving investigations, analyses, and development issues. At the same time, you thrive in a supporting role where you contribute specialist competence to project managers, property managers, and other colleagues in the operations as well as in construction projects. You also have a good ability to work cross-disciplinarily and collaborate with other technical areas, such as construction, electricity, and fire.
We are looking for you who is development-oriented and can identify improvement and development opportunities within the energy area. You have an interest in future energy systems and follow the development within solar energy, energy storage, power optimization, and digital solutions. You have a good overall view and the ability to weigh together technical, economic, and environmental perspectives to contribute to the operations and the city's long-term goals.
