What we offer

Primary Care Centre Östergötland consists of 33 region-run health centres, Vårdcentrum Finspång, the Child Health Centre, evening and weekend 1177 and emergency centres, and the General Practice Education Centre. We provide a broad range of primary care services, offering healthcare to everyone throughout their lives; from newborns, children, and adolescents to adults, the elderly, and patients in the final stages of life.

We are a forward-looking organization with a strong focus on a good working environment, development, and health. We actively work to create conditions for sustainable working lives while maintaining a development-inspired approach to meet future challenges in primary care. Here, you will find excellent opportunities for career development, whether you wish to advance within your profession, become a manager, or move forward in other ways, such as through specialization or research.

We also invite you to read more about the region's career ladder for doctors and the benefits we offer.

Job Description

We offer a challenging and varied position as a specialist physician. We have special housing facilities for the elderly and several specialist clinics where opportunities exist for increased responsibility in medical areas such as diabetes, blood pressure, asthma-COPD, the elderly demographic, etc. Part of the role may also include responsibility for SÄBO (special housing) and home healthcare.

The position includes standard clinic work and consultations with home healthcare services and special housing facilities. A portion of your working time will be dedicated to supervising less experienced colleagues and supporting other staff according to a developed system. This takes place during specifically allocated time in the schedule.

We are a health centre with a good reputation and strong results, as shown in various measurements. Part of our success is due to our high level of competence and the good collaboration within and between different professional groups at the centre.

As a specialist physician here, you will supervise resident doctors and students, as well as perform regular on-call duties. You will contribute to developing methods and working practices to manage patient flow effectively and ensure our commitments according to the rulebook. A specific focus area for 2026 is accessibility. We have well-developed meeting forums and continuously work with systematic occupational health and safety efforts, participating in various overarching development projects.

If you see digitalization and new technology as an opportunity, we want to create space to adopt new methods and working practices. We aim to foster innovative primary care and close-to-home care, while providing opportunities to meet patients in alternative ways, such as through video visits and monitoring of certain chronic diseases. We advocate for opportunities for digital-physical meetings between doctors and patients.

About You

We would prefer that you are a specialist in general practice and have an understanding of the tasks included in the role.

Since you work in constant dialogue with patients, relatives, colleagues, and other operations, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You must hold a Swedish license (to be attached to the application).

We are looking for someone who is receptive and works well with others. You are secure and stable in your professional role and communicate clearly and openly. You adapt easily to changing circumstances and have a flexible work and attitude approach. You take initiative and responsibility for your work, patients, partners, and other operations. You thrive in a dynamic environment where you want to contribute to developing the operations together with the team at the health centre. We place great emphasis on personal qualities, where collaboration and good treatment of patients and colleagues are important to us.

Application and Employment

In the development phase that primary care is currently in, we see a need for time for development work at the health centre as well as personal competence development. The position includes scheduled time for development work, which can be used for individual development, operational development, and personal competence growth.

The application must include a fully completed merit summary for doctors, which you can find here. This must be verified. Do not forget to attach a copy of your degree certificate or license.

Before employment in a patient-facing role within Region Östergötland, you will be asked to fill out a health declaration.

We warmly welcome your application! If you need help registering in the system, please contact Customer Service Support and Assistance at 010-103 60 00 during office hours.

To staffing, mediation, and recruitment agencies, and to salespeople:

We kindly but firmly decline direct contact with staffing, mediation, and recruitment agencies, as well as other external actors and sellers of additional job advertisements. Region Östergötland has procured agreements.
