We are looking for you who, alongside your regular job, want to make an important contribution to society and your fellow citizens.
The position of standby firefighter is located at the Edane Fire Station.
The municipality's rescue service consists of a combined full-time and part-time station in Arvika. In addition to Arvika's station, there are three part-time stations staffed by RIB personnel in Glava, Edane, and Gunnarskog.
As a standby firefighter with us, you work preventively to reduce injuries and accidents, contributing to a safer and better everyday life for our citizens. Should an accident occur, you will be part of the emergency response team.
Job Responsibilities
You will normally be on standby as a firefighter every fourth week, though the standby period may vary. During standby, you are ready to proceed immediately to the fire station upon alarm to join the emergency response team. You have a five-minute response time. This means you must have a residence and your regular job within five minutes' travel distance from the Edane fire station.
The position includes all typical tasks of a firefighter, including driving emergency vehicles, participating in rescue operations, and training exercises. Exercises are conducted in the evenings and amount to approximately 60 hours per year.
Qualifications
You have a high school diploma, and it is an advantage if you have completed any of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency's (MSB) courses such as "Protection Against Accidents," Grib, or RIB.
We appreciate that you, as a person, can remain calm and cooperate well with others. You should have good problem-solving skills, both independently and in a group. To succeed in the role, you must be a competent swimmer and hold a Category B driver's license. It is an advantage if you also have a B96 and Category C driver's license. You must have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
Good physical and mental health is essential for this role.
Conditions
Your regular employer must approve that you can leave your workplace when an alarm is raised.
In the event of employment, you must undergo training conducted at one of the MSB's schools. The basic training lasts a total of seven weeks, and you need approval from your employer to take leave for this training.
To be employed, you must pass physical tests with a satisfactory result and be approved in our medical examination.
