The Social Services Department's mission is to work with social services and provide support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has the same opportunities in life. We want everyone to be able to be active and participate in society. With a focus on respecting the individual's right to determine their own life, we are responsible for three important areas: care and nursing, support for people with disabilities, and assistance to individuals and families. Our goal is for everyone to receive the support and care they need.

The Workplace

Within the Disability Support Department, there are group homes, day activities, children's and youth residences, as well as short-term and leisure activities conducted according to the Support and Service Act (LSS) and relevant authority decisions for the individual user. The department also includes social psychiatric activities conducted according to the Social Services Act (SoL).

Our workplaces are located both in Trelleborg city and urban areas, as well as some activities in the municipality's villages and rural areas.

For this announcement, the target group is person group 1 within LSS, which includes people with intellectual disabilities and autism. Your placement will be at Lyckebo, a group home located just outside Trelleborg's urban area. You will most easily get to and from the workplace by car.

Job Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you have an important role in providing support and services to users based on individual needs, with a focus on independence, self-determination, and participation. The work is based on relevant authority decisions and established implementation plans, and you work to create safety and quality of life through low-affective handling, structure, clear pedagogy, and good communication.

In the daily work as a support assistant, you provide support and guidance to users in their daily lives from a pedagogical and practical approach. With the users' implementation plans as a starting point, you work to establish, drive, and follow up on goals and realize the highest possible quality and participation for the user in daily life. The support includes help with care/hygiene, cooking, and skill training, as well as leisure activities such as bowling, dancing, and other activities that are important to the user.

The foundation of the work is good and clear communication and respectful handling. You work to create calm and safety for users in various situations they encounter in their daily lives. Furthermore, you are a support and create conditions for good contact with relatives, healthcare, and other contacts that are important to each user. You collaborate primarily with other support assistants, support pedagogues, and management to continuously develop the operations and achieve set goals.

Qualifications

To be considered for the role, you need to have a high school or vocational degree from the Care and Nursing program, Child and Leisure program, or other equivalent education assessed by the employer as equivalent. You have at least one year of combined professional experience in meeting and supporting people with disabilities. Furthermore, you have good computer skills and the ability to read and write social documentation in Swedish. You also need good physical fitness to carry out and support activities with users. You have at least a B driver's license for a manual transmission car as the job requires driving during work.

It is an advantage if you have experience and competence in any of the following areas: planning, implementing, and following up on activities for users/patients; work with clear pedagogy; challenging behavior and PECS (TAKK).

You are stable and confident in yourself, sensitive to the user's needs, and take responsibility and collaborate well with everyone you meet. You adapt easily to changed circumstances and see opportunities instead of obstacles in emerging situations. You use your curiosity and learning to constantly improve the daily life of our users.
