Storängsskolan is looking for a resource person for a student with Type 1 diabetes

Storängsskolan is an F-6 school (preschool class to grade 6) with approximately 420 students, consisting of three classes per grade. The after-school center (fritidshem) has four units. Do you want to work with us and help develop our school?

What can we offer you?

We are currently seeking a resource person for Grade 1 to support a student with Type 1 diabetes. Your main task is to provide the student with security and support in the daily management of their diabetes, both in the classroom, during breaks, and during activities outside the school building. You will also work at the after-school center according to the student's supervision schedule.

Your future responsibilities

  • Monitor and support the student's blood sugar levels according to agreed routines.
  • Support the student with insulin administration, carbohydrate counting, and meals.
  • Be a calm and reassuring adult in case of high or low blood sugar symptoms.
  • Accompany the student during movements within the school and on excursions.
  • Document as needed according to school routines.
  • Collaborate with the school health service and follow medical recommendations and instructions.

The role also involves

You will work in close collaboration with school staff, guardians, and healthcare professionals to ensure the student has a safe and functional school experience.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with experience working with children, preferably in a school setting. Knowledge or experience with Type 1 diabetes is required. Training as a nurse assistant (undersköterska) or equivalent education is advantageous. You are self-assured, responsible, and empathetic. Good communication and collaboration skills are essential. You must remain calm and proactive in situations where the student's health is affected.
