About the job

The Area for Economic Assistance and Integration is part of Individual and Family Care and belongs to the second line of social services, with a focus on work, integration, and self-sufficiency. Our work is based on a clear target group focus where we map needs and coordinate interventions based on evidence- and knowledge-based methods, in close collaboration with other societal actors.

We work according to the MIX method (Motivational Interviewing and Instrument X), where MI (Motivational Interviewing) is a central approach. Currently, we are in an exciting development phase where we work more target-group adapted and process-oriented to create more effective collaboration and offer our residents the best possible support towards self-sufficiency.

We are also part of an ESF-funded project where we work according to the BIP method, which is based on research on what actually contributes to people in complex life situations starting to work or study. The method gives us valuable knowledge in supporting people towards self-sufficiency.

In addition, we are intensively preparing for the upcoming activity requirement, which means you will have the opportunity to be involved in important development work aimed at strengthening and further developing the operations.

The area consists of:

• An intake unit with a manager and team leader
• Two units focused on self-sufficiency, each with a manager and team leader

This organization creates good conditions for close leadership where you, as a social secretary, receive support and guidance in your work.

Within the operations, we also handle economic assistance for the target group of newly arrived immigrants, with a focus on integration and support in housing searches.

We are now looking for social secretaries for both the intake unit and self-sufficiency, full-time, permanent.

Your assignment

As a social secretary with us, you will work with:

• Assessing the right to economic assistance
• Investigating, making decisions, and giving advice and support towards self-sufficiency
• Working preventively to counteract long-term dependency on assistance
• Working with the target group of newly arrived immigrants if needed
• Conducting new visits and thorough investigations at the intake unit

The work requires good cooperation both internally within the municipality and externally with, for example, the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, psychiatry, and primary healthcare.

The assignment also includes starting to assess medical certificates, where we would like you to have previous experience in this and want to contribute to legally secure and qualitative assessments together with colleagues.

Your qualifications

• You have a degree in Social Work (Social Work degree)
• You have good knowledge of the social insurance system
• You have good communication skills, both oral and written

Meritorious

• Experience from the Social Insurance Agency and insurance medical assessments
• Experience of social work with economic assistance
• Experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI)
• Experience of working with newly arrived immigrants within economic assistance

Your competence

• You are development-oriented and passionate about a knowledge-based and systematic approach with the individual at the center
• Since the work often involves meeting people in crisis and with complex life situations, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and treat people respectfully. You have a humanistic worldview with faith in humanity
• You work both independently and structured by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work well
• When making decisions, you have a good ability to see the big picture and make correct assessments, prioritize, and weigh together all information
• You have a good ability to build relationships and establish contact with people in vulnerable situations
• You are calm, stable, and have the ability to maintain a realistic perspective on situations that arise in the daily work as a public authority
• You have very good cooperation skills and relate to others in a listening way, and enjoy collaborating with other professions, always with the individual in focus
• You value differences and understand that different backgrounds, cultures, and group affiliations can affect oneself and others in different ways
