Job Description

The Environmental Engineer is a central expert resource for the entire Water and Wastewater (VA) department. The VA department's responsibilities include water, sewage, and stormwater facilities and pipe networks. As an Environmental Engineer, you primarily work with our environmental and permit issues. You ensure that our operations comply with permits, legislation, and water/environmental court rulings through self-control, reporting, and follow-up. You are responsible for preparing our annual, quarterly, and environmental reports. You are also responsible for keeping our systems for chemicals and waste updated, as well as ensuring that safety regulations and safety data sheets are available and known within the operations. You create and maintain routines, instructions, and risk analyses. The work involves extensive contact with supervisory authorities, contractors, and consultants. There is also considerable customer contact.

Other common tasks include planning and participating in periodic inspections and audits of our water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as conducting risk assessments and keeping our self-control programs updated. You monitor operations with regard to process and environmental impact and work to ensure that any deficiencies identified during supervision and inspections are known and addressed. The work is carried out in close collaboration with our specialists and our operations organization. As an Environmental Engineer, you participate in relevant projects where you are responsible for your areas of expertise.

The work is very autonomous, and the tasks are varied in a small, un-bureaucratic organization. You have great opportunities to develop in your daily work. The workplace is at our office on Plogvägen 6 in Tingsryd. Working hours are daytime, 07:00-16:00.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are or have been an Environmental Engineer in public operations, industry, process, or similar operations. You should have experience with supervision of food or environmentally hazardous operations. Knowledge and experience of legislation and environmental law are required. Experience with water and wastewater as well as food operations is meritorious. You may have other experience that we consider equivalent.

Your education should be post-secondary and should have a focus on water and wastewater, environment, or chemistry. To be successful, you should have a few years of experience working in the field. As a person, you have a strong interest in the environment, are technically interested, and enjoy problem-solving. The work involves significant contact with various authorities, which is why it is important that you can communicate well both orally and in writing. You thrive working both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. You should have good initiative and organizational skills, be flexible, and have a strong safety mindset. You enjoy and are good at calculating, analyzing, and reporting. At the same time, you are interested in working close to daily operations and learning the processes at the facilities.

The tasks require you to be a responsible person who is good at collaboration and problem-solving, and who is open and engaged. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We assume you have good IT skills. A B-class driver's license is required. The person we hire will undergo a security clearance before employment.

Salary: Monthly salary.
