We are looking for a Social Worker to join our School Social Team

The Care Administration works according to a value system where every individual we meet has equal value and is unique. Within the administration, we have IFO, LSS activities, social psychiatry, health care, home help services, and special housing. Approximately 800 employees work here around the clock for our target groups.

About the Role

In 2024, Avesta Municipality launched a school social team on a project basis and has seen positive effects from the work. Therefore, we have decided to hire a social worker for the team on a full-time basis. The school social team is a collaboration between the Education Administration and the Social Services, and you will work in a team with employees from the schools.

Your job title will be Family Therapist. Your role will be to promote school attendance through early interventions. The school social team supports and helps students in grades 4–9 with repeated, long-term school absences so they can achieve eligibility for upper secondary school.

Responsibilities

You will work with attendance-promoting measures, preventive measures, and targeted interventions for students with high absenteeism. Your tasks include:

• Conducting motivational interviewing with students.
• Providing parenting support.
• Working on social adjustments or social change work with students and their parents.
• Collaborating with school staff to support student well-being and attendance.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker and have previous experience working with social work involving children and young people. Since you will work at all of the municipality's schools for grades 4–9, a B-driver's license for manual transmission cars is required.
