Your new job

As Unit Manager, you lead a transport fleet consisting of skilled drivers, vehicle administrators, and transport coordinators. The fleet is an internal service function that supports the municipality's operations with vehicles, machinery, and drivers for assignments including winter road maintenance, water/sewer flushing, excavation work, crane operations, and asphalt paving. The unit rents machinery and vehicles to various municipal operations, and your technical expertise will be key to providing these operations with what they need.

In this role, you are supported by a vehicle administrator and a transport planner to ensure that vehicles and equipment are in roadworthy and functional condition according to current laws and regulations. Other common tasks include purchasing/procurement of vehicles and equipment for operations, and acting as an expert in the vehicle technical field for other departments. You also play an important role in the municipality's work with civil preparedness and continuity planning.

The role includes responsibility for personnel, working environment, and budget, with tasks such as recruiting and onboarding new employees, rehabilitation and workplace adaptation, involvement in salary setting and reviews, systematic work environment work, and employee development.

You are part of the management group for Technical Service and report to the Operations Manager. Your workplace is based at Vägporten.

In your daily work, you will collaborate with fellow managers, coordinators, and employees. Naturally, you will also have contact with external actors, departments within your own administration, and other operations within the municipality. You are also surrounded by several support functions such as HR/Administration, Finance, and Development to collectively meet the needs of the operations.

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in engineering, economics, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• At least two years of experience in a leadership position, preferably including economic and personnel responsibility.
• Experience in vehicle technology, transport, and mechanical contracting industries.
• The position requires good computer skills as we work in several IT systems; experience with Visma, Qlicksense, Coredination, and Fordonskontroll is an advantage.
• Category B driver's license (manual transmission).

Merits:

• Experience in leading projects and coordinating vehicle technical procurements, where experience with LOU (Public Procurement Act) is an advantage.
• Category CE driver's license as well as YKB (Professional Competence Certificate) and crane license.

The recruitment concerns a permanent position at 100% with a start date as agreed. Personality and capacity tests will be applied for this position. On-call service for Jönköping Municipality's winter and street preparedness may be included.
