Our intensive care unit has two high-tech intensive care beds and four intermediate care beds. Here, we treat patients from the medicine, surgery, and orthopedic clinics. During on-call hours, we receive postoperative patients, and we also perform short ICU visits such as electrical cardioversions, central venous catheter insertions, and lumbar punctures.

We offer you an individually adapted introduction based on your needs and knowledge. There are good opportunities to take an advanced course (15 ECTS) in Intensive Care in Uppsala.

Your Responsibilities

We are now looking for an Intermediate Care Nurse (ICU/Step-down) for a mixed full-time position. The percentage of employment can be discussed if you have other preferences, for example, if you want to combine two positions or can only work part-time. Do not hesitate to contact us, and we will look into the possibilities.

We treat patients with varying diagnoses. As an Intermediate Care Nurse, you are responsible for advanced nursing care for patients with impending or manifest failure of vital functions due to severe illness, accidents, and postoperative care. You monitor the patient's vital parameters and act based on the changes that occur.

We work in teams with nursing assistants and anesthesiologists. The work is varied, challenging, and you learn something new every day. Our schedule includes time for development work, teaching, and internal lectures through active department meetings.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with specialist education in intensive care.

For us, it is important that you are secure, stable, and enjoy taking initiative. In our team, we support each other, especially when conditions change during a work shift, so it is important that you have a flexible working style. Your good judgment is crucial when you need to make your own assessments and prioritizations, sometimes with limited information and time. It is also important that you understand your significant role as a nurse and can ensure the best for the patient and the organization in your actions and decisions.
