Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer for a long-term assignment with a client responsible for critical societal infrastructure. You will work in a complex and technically advanced environment where systems place high demands on security, availability, and performance.

As a consultant at AFRY, you will become part of an agile development team where you contribute to the development and maintenance of business-critical systems.

In this role, you will design and develop robust and scalable applications in Java, as well as build and further develop microservice architectures and distributed systems. In addition, the role includes:

• Developing APIs and working on system integrations between different platforms
• Participating in modernization journeys, such as migration from legacy systems
• Working on testability, quality, and performance in systems with high requirements
• Contributing to and developing CI/CD flows and DevOps practices
• Actively participating in code reviews and continuous improvements
• Collaborating closely with teams, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure the right solutions

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field, as well as at least five years of experience in Java development in the public sector and/or the energy sector.

We would also like you to have experience with:

• Spring Boot or similar frameworks
• Microservices and distributed systems
• Developing REST APIs and working with integrations
• Version control (e.g., Git)
• CI/CD and modern development flows
• Container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift are meritorious
• Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or similar) are meritorious

You also have a knack for translating business needs into technical solutions, as well as good communication and collaboration skills.
