Uppsala Pastorate

Uppsala Pastorate consists of five parishes with joint governance and management. Together, we aim to be the local church for 180,000 residents of Uppsala. Vaksala Parish is located on the border between city and countryside, featuring a medieval church and two modern churches.

We are looking for an engaged and proactive Church Caretaker. You will serve in all three of our churches: Vaksala Church, Salabacke Church, and Årsta Church. You will be one of three caretakers in the parish. Working hours are scheduled during weekdays, weekends, and major church holidays. Evening shifts are included.

About the Position

The position involves primary responsibility for premises and bookings at Vaksala Parish Centre, Vaksala Church Centre, and Årsta Church. It also entails creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere in our premises and performing minor repairs on our buildings.

The role includes standard caretaker duties related to worship services and church ceremonies, such as handling sound and lighting in our premises, as well as managing textiles and textile care. A specific aspect of this role is planning and conducting catering services, either independently or together with volunteers.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is independent, service-oriented, and positive. You enjoy working in the kitchen, both independently and with volunteers. Experience in calculating food quantities for various activities is considered an asset. You must be organized and practical.

The work involves many contacts, both internal and external, making your social competence important. You are attentive and flexible and enjoy meeting people in various life situations. You have a grounding in the Church of Sweden's faith and life and a positive approach to meeting people seeking guidance.

Qualifications

• Upper secondary education or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Experience working in a kitchen.
• Experience with basic building maintenance.
• Member of the Church of Sweden and sharing our core values.

We would prefer if you:

• Have previous experience as a Church Caretaker.
• Are accustomed to working with volunteers.
• Hold a valid driver's license (Category B).

About the Position

This is a permanent full-time position, which may begin with a probationary period. Working hours are scheduled during weekdays, weekends, and major church holidays. Evening shifts are included.

Start date: January 1, 2027, or earlier by agreement.

The position is located at Årsta Church.
