About the Department

The Community Development Administration plays a key role in the municipality's development and consists of three collaborating departments: Citizen Services, Strategic Community Planning, and the Technical Department. Together, we work to create the best possible service for both residents and businesses, while planning and developing a sustainable and growing society. Our areas of responsibility range from long-term community planning, culture, leisure, and business issues to the operation and development of the municipality's water and sewage systems, waste management, and properties.

Job Description

We are looking for an engaged and strategic Waste Management Manager who wants to continue taking a holistic approach, drive development, and shape Åre Municipality's future sustainable waste management. As the Waste Management Manager, you have overall responsibility for the municipality's waste management operations – from collection and logistics to the development of sustainable working methods and services. You will lead the operations both strategically and operationally, ensuring that we meet future requirements for environment, efficiency, and service. The operations are largely outsourced, and you will lead a work group of 7 employees whose professions are engineers and case handlers.

Main areas of responsibility:

• Lead, develop, and follow up on waste management operations
• Responsible for procurement, budget, personnel, results, and operational planning
• Drive development and change work related to sustainability and digitalization
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations within waste and environmental legislation
• Develop beneficial collaborations with both internal and external actors
• Be a clear leader who engages and develops employees
• Present cases in political committees

You will be part of a management group in the Technical Department as well as a management group for a consortium of the county's 8 municipalities and will report to the Technical Director.

Qualifications

• Relevant education or equivalent experience
• Longer experience of leadership with personnel responsibility is meritorious
• Experience in driving change and development
• Experience of working both operationally and strategically
• Experience in the public sector is meritorious but not a requirement
• Knowledge of waste issues, environmental legislation, or similar areas is meritorious
• Experience of supplier and contract follow-up
• A driver's license is a requirement
