We are seeking a Rector for Strömsund Parish

Strömsund Parish is a large rural parish consisting of seven congregations. We have 31 employees who take care of and look after our parishioners and holiday visitors. We belong to the Diocese of Härnösand.

The congregations in Strömsund Parish value an inclusive and warm community. Here you find mountains, lakes, and forests – an environment that engages and inspires the broad work of the congregations. We are a Sami administrative municipality and have a responsibility to develop cooperation and preserve the cultural character present in our parish, together with Sami associations and the municipality.

Music life with several choirs, combined with the mission of the Church of Sweden, is important to our congregations and something we would like to see develop. The diaconal work is a large and important part of a rural parish. We have good children's and confirmation work, as well as young leaders.

We are looking for someone who is secure in themselves, stable, and has good self-awareness. You motivate and engage employees by creating participation and direction through a leadership style characterized by presence, active listening, and dialogue. You collaborate actively with the elected officials at different levels, where knowledge and respect for each other's tasks and roles are a matter of course. You get to know the parishioners and make use of the distinct character of the different congregations. You are also responsible for encouraging and utilizing voluntary forces in the congregation/parish in a way that builds up and develops parish life.

You see employees' competence and qualities as an important force in the parish's path forward. Through clear, consistent, and empathetic leadership, you lead the parish. This means you distinguish between governance and management and can lead, coordinate, and delegate to achieve common goals effectively, where collaboration with elected officials is an important part of your assignment. With clarity, drive, and endurance, you continue the exciting and natural development of the parish.

As a person, you are structured and can organize and prioritize work for the benefit of the operations from a larger perspective. Therefore, you need to be able to communicate clearly – ensuring and following up that messages reach and are understood by employees. You follow the Church Ordinance.

As rector, you lead all operations in the parish, based on your ordination vows.

You are deeply rooted in the faith, confession, and doctrine of the Church of Sweden and have the ability for theological reflection and supervision of the parish's operations. As a spiritual leader, you can place the church's organization and administration in a theological context, while actively nurturing and strengthening ecumenical relations.

Qualifications

• Ordained in the Church of Sweden and have completed the rector education.
• Several years of experience leading a larger congregation/parish, where indirect leadership and management of other managers/staff are a natural part of the assignment, as well as leading management group work.
• Experience working with economy, budget, and operational planning, as well as personnel and employer issues.
• Experience with property and funeral matters.
• Experience working with visions, goal-directed management, and follow-up in congregation/parish, and the ability to realize overarching theoretical goals for the parish's operations.
• Good knowledge of church regulations, as well as labor law and working environment, including pastoral responsibility and basic frameworks for funeral operations.
• Good digital competence.
• Valid driver's license (Category B).
