One of the Army Staff's focus areas is building the new Army. An army that focuses on the Army's capabilities in the field and, in this regard, builds new as well as restructures existing units. Concurrently, the Army Staff leads units both nationally and internationally. The Army Staff develops and production-leads combat units included in the Army, as well as subordinate organizational units consisting of units and schools.

The above, combined with continuing to establish the Army Staff as a cohesive and unifying force, means that the tasks are highly varied, developmental, and dynamic.

Information about the position

The Army Staff is an independent organizational unit within the Swedish Armed Forces, where the Technical and Maintenance Office Land (TVK Mark) is included as a division within the Armaments Unit. TVK Mark is responsible for materiel maintenance, materiel utilization, and materiel maintenance economics within the Swedish Armed Forces, as well as ensuring that materiel is maintained in accordance with system objectives.

As Section Commander for Tracked Vehicles, you lead the work within the section with responsibility for the Swedish Armed Forces' tracked vehicle systems (Bv 206, 208, 309, and 410 with variants), as well as associated trailers and maintenance equipment. The systems are used within all branches of the armed forces and are managed throughout their entire lifecycle – from receipt and maintenance to decommissioning. The Tracked Vehicle Section consists of eight employees located in Boden, Enköping, and Östersund and is part of the Boden/Umeå Section within the Army Staff.

Responsibilities

In the role of Section Commander, you are responsible for planning, follow-up, and development of the operations, and you have personnel responsibility for the employees in the system section. The role involves close collaboration with other units, central staffs, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and industry, and you lead the development of procedures and working methods in a growing operation.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the section's personnel.
  • Responsible for the system section's economic follow-up and reporting.
  • Responsible for conducting user and maintenance meetings.
  • Support the preparation of investigation and planning issues within the technical service.
  • Represent the section in section reports.

Qualifications

  • Officer's degree or alternatively another academic degree or education/experience that the employer deems relevant
  • Experience in personnel management
  • Experience in Armed Forces work within logistics, primarily technical service
  • Good ability to understand and express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Good ability to work with computers, especially in Microsoft Office applications
  • Category B driver's license

Meritorious qualifications

  • Technical experience with tracked vehicle systems
  • Experience in working with economic responsibility
  • Experience in working with system security
  • Good knowledge of Armed Forces materiel supply and materiel processes
  • Experience with the Swedish Armed Forces' support systems LIFT and SAP (PRIO)
