Do you want to help create a safe, accessible, and stimulating learning environment where every student has the space to grow? We welcome your application to Vist and Norrbergaskolan!

Your responsibilities

You will work with planning, teaching, evaluation, and values-based work based on the national curriculum. The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

As an after-school center teacher, you have a meaningful and varied assignment where you follow students throughout their entire school day. In this position, there is a special focus on supporting a specific student with needs for special support and extra adjustments during the preschool class school day, and then continuing to support the student and the student group in the after-school center's activities in the afternoon. This creates a safe, continuous, and predictable environment for the student.

In your role as an after-school center teacher, you will be part of an engaged work team where you plan, implement, and evaluate the pedagogical activities together based on the national curriculum.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and develop pedagogical activities in preschool class and the after-school center.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment with a strong focus on the needs of the group and the individual student.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in your work team to give students a cohesive and meaningful school day.
  • Offer support to students in need of extra adjustments, use alternative communication methods when necessary, as well as sign support and digital tools.

As an after-school center teacher, we want you to see the student's entire school day as important, and therefore you collaborate with both guardians and colleagues regarding the student. As part of this, the after-school center's and the school's operations also collaborate to achieve higher goal fulfillment and create the best conditions for every student. You base your work on the student group you meet and are expected to create varied and challenging teaching. Using digital tools is a natural part of your teaching.

You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection in both planned and spontaneous situations. To benefit the students' learning, as well as your own and the operation's development, you take advantage of the experiences and knowledge of different professions.

Your workplace

Vist School and Norrbergaskolan together form the principal's area Vist School, where your placement will be Norrbergaskolan. Both schools are located in the nature-rich Sturefors, just south of central Linköping. Vist School is a newly renovated F–6 school with approximately 340 students. Norrbergaskolan is a newly built school that will grow into an F–3 school with approximately 200 students this autumn. Here, you become part of a staff group with strong cohesion and collaborate with colleagues throughout the principal's area.

Approximately 65 employees work at the school area, including support functions such as school nurse, counselor, psychologist, special educational coordinator, school librarian, administrator, and caretaker. The staff is organized into four work teams where the school collaborates with the after-school center staff for the benefit of the students. We have qualified and competent staff who constantly work to develop the operation with a strong focus on collegial learning. The school area is in an exciting development phase with a strong focus on safety, study environment, and accessible learning environments.

With us, you get:

  • Work in a collegial climate where engagement and professionalism are at the center.
  • Develop in your professional role with competent staff who prioritize collegial learning.
  • Opportunity to build strong, trusting relationships and follow students' development over time in a family-oriented area.

You who apply

We primarily seek you who have teacher certification with eligibility in the after-school center. In the second place, we seek you with a degree certificate or completed education as an after-school center teacher and applied for certification. In the third place, we seek you who are at the end of your education as an after-school center teacher. It is a requirement that you have experience as a teacher in a curriculum-guided after-school center, through practice or as an employee. It is meritorious if you have eligibility to teach in more subjects, based on the operation's needs, and have worked as an after-school center teacher for at least one school year.

It is meritorious if you have experience using sign support (TAKK) in your pedagogical daily life and have worked with students with disabilities.

In your role as an after-school center teacher, you need to:

  • Have good knowledge of the school's mission and be well acquainted with the national curriculum (Lgr22) and other regulatory documents.
  • Have good communicative skills in speech and writing in the Swedish language. This is because, according to the national curriculum (Lgr22), you must organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You are also responsible for ensuring that every student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.
  • Act and be a good role model as an after-school center teacher.
  • Have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and let them participate in the design of the teaching.
  • Create good conditions for the student's development and learning in a quality-conscious manner.
