Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) is a specialist care service that strives to provide care characterized by high quality and patient safety in collaboration with patients, families, and neighboring care providers. We assess, treat, and investigate children and adolescents aged 0–17. We have a total of approximately 80 employees with various basic professions and supplementary training.

The outpatient care consists of two BUP clinics with broad child psychiatric competence. The clinics are centrally located in Karlskrona and Karlshamn. At our outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry clinic, you will meet children, adolescents, and their families with varying psychiatric needs. The work is characterized by a holistic perspective where we together create conditions for change and improved quality of life.

The inpatient and emergency care is located on the hospital grounds in Karlskrona and includes an inpatient ward with 3–4 beds and a child and adolescent psychiatric day emergency clinic. To receive acute patients during nights and weekends, we collaborate closely with the psychiatric emergency clinic at the adult psychiatry department, which is located in the same building.

We have good cooperation with other clinics to expand the range of placements during your specialist training (ST), for example with child and adolescent medicine, child and adolescent habilitation, adult psychiatry, or special units within and outside the region.

About the Job

What We Offer You

The department currently has two ST-doctors, and we aim to take in two to three additional ST-doctors. We offer training within the specialty according to the requirements of the National Board of Health and Welfare, with access to supervision and good cohesion within the doctor group. Of course, as far as possible, we will adapt your ST service to your wishes and according to goal fulfillment.

We actively work to create a good educational environment for ST-doctors and offer scheduled weekly supervision, educational clinics (where you work directly with the consultant under active supervision), study time, and journal clubs. We collaborate with the Southern Healthcare Region for trainings that the ST group organizes themselves. In Blekinge, we have a broad own educational offering that covers courses regarding A and B goals and more. You will also participate in national courses throughout your education, which cover C goals. We have the possibility to offer integrated BT (basic training) service.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with permission to work in Swedish healthcare and who have a great interest in child psychiatry. You who apply master the Swedish language at level C1 or higher in both speech and writing. You have very good social skills. You like to work in a team, have good cooperation skills, and thrive independently in your role. You have a holistic view, are structured, and have good ability to make decisions. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

We apply continuous selection and may begin interviews before the last application date. Great importance is attached to personal suitability. Region Blekinge mobilizes all permanent staff for wartime service. Some of our positions are security-classified, where the employee must undergo a security clearance interview and register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). Applicants who are suitable for employment must present an extract from the Police Authority's criminal record register before employment.
