Do you want to cook food that tastes good and does good?
At MOK, we currently run a café. After the summer, we will also launch a lunch restaurant in the same premises, located in the heart of Fryshuset in Hammarby Sjöstad, where young people are a natural part of the operation.
We aim to create a cultural meeting place for both young people and adults, with food as a central element.
We are now looking for a chef who wants to help develop our dining experience — and at the same time contribute to providing young people with a safe pathway into working life.
About the role
As a chef with us, you work from a unique starting point:
You base your dishes on the ingredients used by the school cafeteria downstairs for the day, creating a more artisanal, modern, and appealing interpretation of them. This requires creativity, planning, professional pride, and the ability to see opportunities in what is already available.
Working hours are primarily Monday–Friday, 07:30–16:00. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for specific events.
Your responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and develop the daily lunch based on the school cafeteria's ingredients
- Create dishes that are beautifully presented, delicious, and meticulously crafted
- Maintain a steady flow during lunch service and deliver beautifully presented dishes from the kitchen
- Plan purchases and calculate ingredient costs
- Be responsible for self-control and food hygiene
- Collaborate closely with the café and contribute to the overall operation
- Mentor and train young people in the kitchen and café — both practically and pedagogically
- Be part of a team building a safe, creative, and inclusive environment
We are looking for someone who
- Has experience in a professional kitchen
- Is confident working independently and taking responsibility
- Has good knowledge of allergens and various dietary preferences, and can adapt menus/dishes in a safe and thoughtful manner
- Has a good understanding of ingredient handling, economics, and planning
- Is creative and enjoys finding solutions
- Thrives in an environment where young people are a natural part of daily life
- Has a warm and pedagogical approach
- Wants to help develop an operation that makes a difference
- Is eager to be part of something more than just cooking good food
Employment conditions
Employment type: Permanent position with a 6-month probation period. Start date to be agreed upon in August/September.
Application deadline: June 26.
The position is covered by a collective agreement between Fremia and Kommunal/Vision/Swedish School Leaders/Swedish Teachers.
We conduct continuous selection, which may result in the position being filled before the application deadline.
