The specific area of focus includes research and development of methods as well as mathematical analysis relevant to reliable generative visual models, with particular emphasis on uncertainty quantification, bias and fairness, as well as statistical and geometric properties of visual and simulated data. The overarching area of focus includes research and development of algorithms, methods, and theories aimed at increasing the understanding of properties and underlying mechanisms in statistical systems and deep learning-based systems, also in the presence of simulated data. You are also expected to explore application areas within materials science, life sciences, as well as security and digital forensics, supported by an interdisciplinary research profile that combines computer science and applied statistics with experience in quantitative, data-driven research, method development, and collaboration across disciplines.
