Your responsibilities
The main responsibility is to advance research in two research projects. One involves the development and testing of organic electrodes for deep brain stimulation, and the other investigates what happens in the brain during premature birth. In both projects, the majority of the work is conducted through experiments in mice. The work includes, among other things, stereotactic surgery, histological techniques, behavioral analysis, and gene expression analysis.
As a postdoc, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, but no more than one-fifth of the working time.
Your qualifications

It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the last application date for this position. If there are special reasons, it may be considered as completed earlier, for example, in cases of various types of statutory leave.
We are looking for you who have a PhD in neurobiology or a related field. Extensive experience in stereotactic surgery and behavioral analysis in mice is a requirement for the position. Similarly, extensive experience in gene expression analysis, histology, confocal microscopy, and quantification of immunohistochemistry is required, as well as experience working with organic electronics in mouse models and using mouse models for issues related to premature birth. You must also have in-depth knowledge of how the immune system and the brain interact.
Expertise in microglia biology is meritorious.
Good knowledge of English and basic knowledge of Swedish is required.
You are energetic, resilient, structured, and have good ability to collaborate with others.
Your workplace
You will work at CSAN (https://liu.se/forskning/csan), which integrates knowledge and methods from various areas of neuroscience, both basic and clinical. CSAN brings together research groups within adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neurobiology, clinical neurophysiology, and neuroeconomics.
