We are looking for an engaged case-handling manager to join the Guardianship Authority (Överförmyndarenheten) who wants to work with a very important societal task.
The Guardianship Authority is a municipal supervisory authority tasked with investigating the need for guardians or administrators for individuals, as well as supervising guardians, administrators, and curators. As a supervisory authority, we also have a significant responsibility to work with service, accessibility, and collaboration. Our operations are governed by law and fall under the supervision of the County Administrative Boards.
You will lead a qualified team of eight highly competent employees who have significant autonomy in their roles. The work is characterized by independence and a shared focus on quality and judgment in the exercise of public authority.
In the case-handling aspect, you will handle many different types of cases and work within various legal areas. To thrive in this role, you need to be interested in seeking information, constantly learning new things, establishing and maintaining contacts, and valuing collegial collaboration.

The Assignment
As the case-handling manager for the Guardianship Authority, you have overall responsibility for operations, economy, and personnel.
In your role as a manager, you will among other things:
- lead and develop operations with a focus on legally secure case handling, quality, and efficiency
- create conditions for employees to perform their work with independence, judgment, and security
- ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with current legislation and political goals
- collaborate with courts, authorities, internal, and external actors
The case handling includes the following tasks:
- investigate applications and reports regarding guardians, administrators, and curators
- represent the Guardianship Authority at court hearings
- review and follow up on the administration of proxies
- recruit and process expressions of interest, and conduct checks on prospective proxies
- maintain contact with principals, relatives, proxies, and authorities
- lecture for and train proxies as well as internal and external collaboration partners

What you need to bring with you
We are looking for you who have an academic degree of at least 180 credits in law, economics, political science, or another area that the employer deems relevant. You have experience of exercising public authority and experience of working as a manager or in another leading role in an operation with similar complexity.
As a person, you are secure and stable in your leadership. You have a listening, relationship-building approach and good ability to lead, develop, and support your employees in their tasks.
You work in a structured manner and have the ability to create order and clarity even in complex contexts. You have good judgment and high integrity in situations that require balancing acts within the exercise of public authority. You monitor the external environment and keep up to date within your profession.
Good Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement.
It is meritorious if you have experience of case handling, guardianship operations, or related legal areas, as well as leading change work and implementing new legislation.
Experience of labor law and collaboration with trade unions is meritorious.

Welcome to us
The Guardianship Authority belongs to the Staff and Planning Department within the Municipal Executive Board Office, which includes, among other things, the contact center, communication, and the legal unit.
We who work within the unit have the primary focus of conducting operations characterized by legal security, structure, good service, and collaboration. You will be part of a team consisting of five case handlers, one senior consultant, one administrator, and one business developer. Together, we operate and develop the operations towards common goals.
Employment type, scope, and start
- Employment type: Permanent
- Scope: Full-time
- Start date: By agreement
For this role, the starting salary is normally between 58,000–64,000 SEK depending on experience and competence.
