The Swedish Armed Forces are undergoing rapid and significant growth. A large amount of new equipment is entering service, bringing major changes, not least for logistics and maintenance services. The Field Ranger Group (Military Region Group in Jämtland/Härjedalen) will soon move to new premises and a new area, creating great opportunities to influence the development of the logistics function. Jämtland and Östersund have been designated as a logistics hub in Sweden, which means that the Field Ranger Group will also be affected by this in various ways.

About the Unit

The primary task of the Field Ranger Group is to train and maintain a Home Guard battalion and an intelligence company, support voluntary activities within Jämtland County, and carry out land-territorial tasks such as civil-military cooperation, territorial operational planning, and participation in host nation support operations. The Field Ranger Group currently has three sections: Training, Planning, and Logistics, and employs 28 people. As a section chief at the Field Ranger Group, you will have the opportunity to create interesting, meaningful, and varied work.

You are the Chief of the Logistics Section at a Military Region Group. The section consists of employees with different functional areas and responsibilities. The main tasks are to exercise leadership and management for the section and to support the Commander of the Military Region Group (C MR-Group) in decisions regarding logistics, technical service, and maintenance services. You will be part of the command group and, together with other managers, drive the operations forward. The position includes the development of the logistics function and providing direct support to the Home Guard units, personnel from the Military Region Group, and voluntary organizations. Responsibility for premises, warehouses, and other property-related matters is also included in the role. You report directly to the Commander of the Military Region Group Field Rangers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Leads and is responsible for the Logistics Section's operations and staff.
  • Supports the C MR-Group regarding logistics, maintenance services, and technical services.
  • Supports the Home Guard units and voluntary organizations' operations regarding logistics.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of the force development of the 14th Home Guard Battalion and the 145th Home Guard Intelligence Company towards wartime tasks.
  • Is responsible for premises, warehouses, and properties used by the MR-Group and Home Guard units.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Specialist Officer Degree or equivalent according to previous command regulations.
  • Driver's License Class B (manual transmission).

You will interact daily with a large number of people with different backgrounds, which places high demands on professionalism and teamwork. You need to be structured, but also creative and solution-focused, as quick action is sometimes required. You must also have analytical skills and be able to plan long-term. Naturally, you share the Swedish Armed Forces' values and code of conduct that apply to all operations. Great emphasis is placed on personal attributes.

Information about the Swedish Armed Forces and the recruiting unit:
The Middle Military Region (MR M) is a wartime unit and an organizational unit where the Commander and Staff are located in Kungsängen. The organization consists of a Commander with staff, six training groups for the training and support of the Home Guard, and approximately 7,000 Home Guard soldiers organized into eleven battalions and a number of independent units. The Commander of the Middle Military Region with regional staff leads subordinate units, collaborates with regional and local actors, leads security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical commanders who solve tasks within the region. The region also serves as a link between the Swedish Armed Forces and civil society, has active cooperation with the county administrative board and the region. If necessary, MR M also leads operations, for example in national crisis situations and support to society. The Military Region solves tasks in peace, crisis, and war.

The organization and area of operation of the Middle Military Region cover the geographical counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland, Västmanland, Dalarna, and Gävleborg. Training groups and the Home Guard are present in each county.
