The Department of Medicine, Division of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, conducts translational research primarily focused on metabolism, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease with the aim of improving health and healthcare in society. The overall goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of very high international standard.

At Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we conduct research within intestinal failure and transplantation, with the goal of improving patient care. Our patient cohort is unique and consists of a Scandinavian cohort. For this project, we focus particularly on areas related to nutrition and bone density measurements (DXA). We strive to contribute new insights that can lead to a greater understanding of these complex conditions. Our research group consists of a small team of dedicated researchers and clinical experts, including a research nurse. Together, we work to develop effective methods and strategies to improve care for our patients.

Job Responsibilities

As a Research Assistant, you will primarily work with compiling data from the medical record system Melior. The tasks include reviewing and extracting data from the Melior system, as well as registering and organizing collected data in Excel for further analysis. You will also participate in the processing and analysis of data related to nutrition and DXA (bone density measurements). The work involves using tools such as EndNote for reference management and potentially SPSS or R for statistical analysis. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the research group to ensure quality in data collection and processing.

Qualifications

We are looking for a careful and structured person with good computer skills and an interest in research within nutrition and bone density measurements. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as medicine, biomedicine, or nutrition, is required. A master's degree in the field is desirable. It is a requirement that you have experience working with the medical record system Melior and have good knowledge of Excel for data processing and analysis. A large part of the work involves working quickly and efficiently with different data systems, so we place great emphasis on your proficiency in Excel.

Knowledge within medicine is considered an advantage, but previous experience in research and publication in scientific journals is particularly positive. A basic understanding of nutrition and bone density measurements (DXA) is also valuable. Familiarity with tools such as EndNote and statistical programs such as R and SPSS is advantageous. It is also advantageous if you have the opportunity to receive research patients on your own.

We place great importance on personal suitability and value strong communication skills, both written and oral. It is a requirement that you are fluent in Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as having good knowledge of English. The ability to work independently as well as in a team is important, as is a genuine interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to new insights in the field. We would like you to be quick-thinking and driven, with high work capacity and the ability to keep pace in projects with many parallel tasks.
