School Psychologist at Mjölby Municipality

The Education Administration is one of Mjölby Municipality's six administrations and is responsible for preschool, primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary and upper secondary schools, and adult education. With approximately 1,000 employees, we offer education that promotes all children and students in lifelong learning, working according to the direction "high knowledge results in a school where everyone can and wants to be." We place great emphasis on working close to operations through regular dialogue and support for school leaders and teachers based on the chain of command.

Mjölby Municipality's Student Health Services brings together several professions working together to promote students' health, development, and learning. Here you will find psychologists, counselors, school nurses, and school doctors, as well as special pedagogical competence. The Student Health Team is led by the principal. In the Skänninge area, we work based on the conviction that student health is best when different professions collaborate and when interventions are implemented early. Therefore, preventive and health-promoting work is a natural part of our mission.

Job Description

As a School Psychologist, you are the school's specialist in psychology and an important part of the Student Health Services' work. You contribute knowledge about the development, learning, and mental health of children and young people, and help schools understand, prevent, and create the right conditions for our students to succeed.

We see the psychologist's role in schools as significantly larger than just assessments. With us, you are an active part of the school's quality work and work closely with principals, educators, and other Student Health professionals.

The work takes place at the individual, group, and organizational levels and may include:

  • Participating in Student Health Teams and contributing psychological perspectives to the school's work
  • Supervising and consulting school staff
  • Conducting psychological assessments and investigations for adapted school forms
  • Contributing to the development of accessible learning environments and preventive Student Health initiatives
  • Lecturing and training staff in relevant areas
  • Collaborating with guardians, healthcare, and other external actors
  • Contributing to the development of Student Health methods and quality work
  • Working to strengthen schools' ability to meet students' diverse needs

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist with good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. You have experience working within Student Health Services, supervision, consultation, and educational initiatives. You are familiar with the school's governing documents and the Student Health mission, and have experience with psychological assessments within educational activities. A B-class driver's license is required for the position.

You are sensitive, empathetic, and unpretentious, contributing to a positive and professional collaborative climate. You communicate clearly and confidently, both in individual meetings and in groups, and have the ability to adapt presentations, training, and supervision to the target group's needs. Furthermore, you are structured and independent with good ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on your work.
