Department of Southern Swedish Forest Research

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher in the fields of forest biometrics, forest management, and mathematical statistics.

About the Position

This is an interdisciplinary position within our forest management research group. In a team, you will analyze and model growth and stand development in boreal and temperate forests in Sweden, covering both heterogeneous forests and monocultures.

You will be part of the management group at the department and work in a team focused on forest management for diverse objectives, with questions regarding climate adaptation and high vs. low-intensity forestry. We utilize empirical and process-based modeling, using data from the Swedish National Forest Inventory and long-term experiments.

Your Background

The candidate must hold a PhD in mathematical statistics, mathematics, or forest sciences. Experience in analyzing tree and stand data, as well as data from the Swedish National Forest Inventory, is required. There is also a requirement for experience in teaching forestry students in data processing, biometrics, and forest variables.

Specialist knowledge in mathematics, backed by scientific publications, is considered an asset. The department places great value on candidates who have a genuine interest in teaching and supervising university students.
