The Faculty of Medicine is one of the largest faculties at Umeå University and attracts many students with a comprehensive range of programs in medicine, dentistry, health, and care. Description

The Department of Nursing, which has around a hundred employees, offers education for nurses and radiographers, specialist nursing programs, midwifery, master's, and PhD programs, as well as research in three main areas: nursing, radiography, and sexual and reproductive health. We are now seeking a substitute University Lecturer at 100% within the subject area of nursing.

Responsibilities

The position includes practical and theoretical teaching, student supervision, and the implementation and assessment of examinations within undergraduate and advanced-level education. Teaching is primarily conducted within the nursing program but may also take place within the department's other programs and courses. Additionally, the role involves participating in the development of new courses and administrative tasks. Teaching will partly be conducted using distance pedagogy.

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as a lecturer in nursing, you must be a licensed nurse who has completed a master's degree in nursing or possess equivalent competence. A district nurse qualification is considered an asset.

Knowledge and experience in skills training and practical teaching are considered advantageous.

To be eligible for the position, the applicant must have documented ability to teach in both Swedish and English.

You are outgoing and have good skills in collaborating with students, colleagues, and groups both within and outside the university. We also value that you are driven and solution-oriented. Assessment Criteria for the Position

The assessment criteria for teaching positions at the university are based on the level of skill required for eligibility, which for this position includes pedagogical skill, administrative skill, and clinical skill. Special attention will be given to assessing pedagogical and clinical skills. Additionally, the ability to contribute to program and course development will be evaluated.

A general assessment criterion for teachers at Umeå University is good collaborative ability, as well as the overall competence and suitability required to perform the duties well.

When assessing pedagogical skill, documented experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching, as well as supervision and examination in nursing, will be considered. Administrative skill can be demonstrated through the ability to lead and develop operations and personnel, as well as through collaborative skills. Clinical skill is demonstrated through current clinical experience and documented good clinical competence.

Other Information

The workplace is in Umeå, but work in other locations may occur. The position is a two-year fixed-term contract with a start date to be agreed upon. We view positively the maintenance of clinical professional activity during the employment period, and a 20% clinical connection may be possible within the framework of the employment.
