Job Description

To ensure a sustainable work climate where we learn from and help each other, we work largely in teams with different focuses/areas of responsibility, but always grounded in and connected to the public library's mission, which involves the entire work team.

School Library (60%)
60% of the position involves work within the school library. You will be part of the school library team that provides school library services to the municipality's primary schools based on the cooperation agreement Åre Libraries has with the schools. We work as a team but with different focus schools. You will focus on school library work at Duved School.

Reading Promotion for Children 0-6 Years (20%)
You will also be part of the working group that works on reading promotion for children aged 0-6 years and their adults, which constitutes approx. 20% of the position. We work with preschools using room libraries, ordering book bags, acting as a knowledge resource for educators, and receiving groups. We also work proactively to inspire early language stimulation and invite people to the library. This may involve visits to the family center, open preschools, or leading open story hours/music hours/children's theater for parents on leave.

Staffing (20%)
As part of the library's work team, you will also staff Åre Library and Järpen Library. Some evening and weekend shifts are included in the position.

We are looking for you who have a strong commitment to children and young people and the library's role in school and society, and who want to be involved in developing the operations.

Common tasks include:

• Staffing the information desk at school libraries and public libraries.
• Receiving and sorting book boxes for classes and preschool groups.
• Purchasing, weeding, and registering children's books.
• Planning and executing reading promotion activities during and outside school hours, e.g., book talks and holiday activities.
• Being a knowledge resource for educators in schools and preschools to find literature and other sources for reading promotion, source criticism, or media information literacy (MIK).
• Developing and creating content in our digital school platform.
• Being part of developing a long-term and high-quality school library work in Åre Municipality.
• Leading story hours and library information for younger children and their parents.

Qualifications

• Education in library and information science or education we find equivalent.
• Experience working in school libraries or pedagogical activities is meritorious.
• Good knowledge of the public library's mission as well as the curriculum's mission regarding language, reading, and digital competence.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
• B-driver's license and access to a car.
