About the Workplace

Jämjö Knowledge Centre is a grades F–9 school located in a beautiful natural environment in Jämjö. The area also includes Torhamn School, a grades F–6 school located just over a mile from Jämjö. Our work is based on close collaboration among all staff across our different professions to create a shared view of learning and students, ensuring we can support their development in the best possible way. As a school librarian, you will complement the work of other professionals in this effort.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include managing our school libraries, promoting reading interest among students, and collaborating with educators on MIK (Media and Information Literacy) as well as fiction and non-fiction literature. The role also involves leading study guidance and organizing mother tongue instruction.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who hold a university degree in Library and Information Science. A specialization in children's and young adult literature and experience working in school libraries are considered meritorious.

Personal suitability is highly valued, as this role requires you to be service-oriented, communicative, and enjoy working with children and young people. We prefer candidates with experience in school library work characterized by effective student interactions and strong collaboration skills with other school staff. You must feel comfortable teaching and speaking to various groups.

You have:

• Knowledge of children's and young adult literature
• Experience or interest in work that strengthens students' reading comprehension
• Strong social competence and enjoy meeting students in educational contexts
• The ability to spark engagement and curiosity for reading in students of all ages
• Relational skills, initiative, and a collaborative mindset

Meritorious qualifications:

• Education or experience in leading study guidance and organizing mother tongue instruction
• Experience with systems such as Book-IT, WeLib, Inläsningstjänst, and Legimus
• Experience working in a grades F–9 school environment
• Knowledge of language and knowledge-enhancing working methods
