About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Remand Prison Gothenburg is one of Sweden's five high-security remand prisons, located in the Prison and Probation Service's building in central Gothenburg. The prison has space for approximately 400 clients. Staff at Remand Prison Gothenburg include correctional officers, psychologists, nurses, administrators, and intelligence operators. In total, we have about 300 employees who work daily with the important tasks of the Prison and Probation Service and with breaking the vicious cycle.

Job Description

The Prison and Probation Service provides certain open healthcare services, which means that all prisons and remand prisons have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, there are also general practitioners and psychiatrists at the clinics. As a nurse, you have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you also assess which applicants should see a doctor. This means you work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for the inmates, assist at medical consultations, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You find it easy to cooperate with other people and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you are calm, stable, and controlled. You have great integrity and the ability to make correct assessments and prioritizations. You are quality-conscious and meticulous, and you have the ability to structure your own approach and drive your processes forward.

To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute through your attitude to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who have:

• Registered Nurse license
• Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish

The following are also meritorious:

• A specialization or further education relevant to the employer, for example within psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills

The position is a fixed-term assignment until 2027-09-01 with the possibility of extension.
