About the role

The LU Service section is now looking for a prepress operator for Media-Tryck.

As a prepress operator with us, a large part of the work involves working closely with doctoral students as their dissertations are finalized for printing. For many, this is the culmination of several years of research, work, and personal commitment.

Your role will therefore be much more than just handling files and documents. You will help people through an important milestone in life. You will become a reliable and knowledgeable contact person during a phase where many things need to fall into place in a short time.

The work mainly consists of:

  • receiving and guiding doctoral students in the final stages of their dissertations
  • finalizing doctoral dissertations for print
  • compiling PDF files and processing Word documents into print-ready originals
  • checking and preparing files for production
  • working with accessibility adaptation of digital documents
  • performing simple design tasks.

What we are looking for

To be considered for the position, you must have very good knowledge of Microsoft Word and be well-versed in Acrobat, InDesign, and Photoshop, as these are major and important parts of daily life since original handling, simple design, and document finalization are included in the tasks.

Basic knowledge of typography is a must, and knowledge or experience in print shop work is desirable. Experience with color management and color settings in Acrobat and the CS/CC suite, as well as knowledge of other Office packages, is meritorious.

The work of compiling digital documents also includes accessibility adaptation, and previous experience in this area is meritorious.

You will work in an international environment, and daily contact with employees from all corners of the world requires that you can communicate very well in Swedish and English. We place great value on your ability to collaborate and communicate, as you are part of the chain between submission and delivery, involving many colleagues and customers.

Since much of the work involves meeting stressed and sometimes very time-pressed people, high demands are placed on communication, service, and treatment, which is why we place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements for the position are that you have:

  • basic experience working in Acrobat, InDesign, and Photoshop in a production environment
  • very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
  • previous experience working with prepress, graphic production, or other equivalent experience and/or relevant education in graphic production, prepress, or digital production
  • basic knowledge of graphic form and typography.

Meritorious qualifications for the position are that you have:

  • experience working professionally in Microsoft Word with complex documents and template management
  • good collaboration skills and a professional and service-oriented attitude
  • experience with color management and color settings in the Adobe CS/CC suite
  • good understanding of form, layout, and typography
  • good knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • experience or knowledge regarding accessibility adaptation of digital documents.

Great importance is attached to personal qualities and how you complement the rest of the team.

Other

The position is a full-time position starting October 1, 2026, or as agreed. Probationary employment may apply.

Interviews are planned to be held in August.

The university applies individual salary setting. Please state your salary expectations in your application.

We use screening questions and therefore do not request a cover letter.

LU Service is a section within the university's shared administration and offers both services and products to the university's operations: e.g., janitorial services, caretaking, reception, printing, mail, parking, university shop, conference, and housing. LU Service has approximately 240 employees.

We decline all contact from advertising sales, recruitment, and staffing companies due to public procurement regulations.
