Gothenburg · On-site · Fleet Management

Do you want to take overall responsibility for a large vehicle fleet where technology, business, and operations are interconnected? Vy Buss is now looking for a Fleet Manager for our service office in Gothenburg – a role where you will drive smarter vehicle utilization, work closely with operations, and become part of an organization where ambition and care go hand in hand.

As a Fleet Manager at Vy Buss, you will have broad and business-critical responsibility for the company's vehicle fleet. You will work with planning, monitoring, purchasing, sales, and development of vehicles – both for contracted and commercial traffic.

This role suits you if you thrive in the intersection of technology, economics, and operations. You need to understand the details of vehicle data, contracts, and costs – but also see how everything impacts the daily operations, business, and traffic that must function every day.

This is a role with significant authority. You are expected to be forward-looking, business-minded, and confident in driving issues from analysis to decision.

The position is based at our headquarters at Polhemsplatsen in central Gothenburg.

About Vy Buss

Vy Buss is part of the Vy Group, one of the largest players in land-based passenger transport in the Nordics. In Sweden, Vy Buss operates contracted line traffic, express bus services, and airport bus services, with operations across large parts of the country.

We are located in Borås, Jönköping, and several other parts of the country. The service office is in Gothenburg, and we have approximately 1,900 employees in Sweden.

At our company, things happen every day. Traffic must work here and now. Drivers should have a sustainable daily life. Passengers should arrive safely and on time. Clients should feel trust. This requires engagement, innovation, and people who want to take responsibility and make a difference.

We work entrepreneurially even within a large organization. We plan smartly, collaborate closely, and constantly improve how we work. New ideas are welcome, initiatives are encouraged, and decisions are made close to operations.

Our culture is characterized by joy, responsibility, openness, and low prestige. We have clear goals and high ambitions – but also a warm community where we help each other, share knowledge, and have fun along the way.

The Role in Practice

As Fleet Manager, you are responsible for the overall management of Vy Buss's vehicle fleet. You work both strategically and operationally with vehicle planning, availability, utilization rate, purchasing, disposal, and monitoring.

An important part of the role is to understand the vehicle fleet from a total cost perspective. This involves TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), maintenance, damages, warranties, investments, vehicle IT, and lifecycle costs – but also how decisions impact daily operations and business.

In this role, you will among other things:

  • plan and monitor Vy Buss's vehicle fleet based on both short- and long-term needs
  • ensure high vehicle availability and efficient vehicle utilization
  • drive purchasing, quotation, and sales processes related to vehicles and vehicle IT
  • monitor costs, utilization rates, warranties, and lifecycle perspectives
  • develop routines, working methods, and monitoring tools within the vehicle area
  • support site managers and business managers in vehicle planning
  • contribute to tender processes with vehicle plans and supporting materials

You will become a key link between technology, operations, and business. A vehicle plan affects not just the number of buses – it impacts availability, economy, maintenance, traffic safety, environment, and the business's future opportunities.

Your task is to understand these connections and drive solutions that last.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for you who have experience in vehicle planning, fleet management, purchasing, technology, or other asset-intensive operations.

Technical understanding is a major advantage in this role. You do not need to be a vehicle technician, but you must understand technical questions well enough to assess vehicle choices, supplier proposals, aftermarket, vehicle IT, and the consequences different decisions have for operations, costs, and lifespan.

You are confident with systems, data, and monitoring. You can handle large amounts of information, see connections, and make clear prioritizations. You also have business understanding and are comfortable in dialogue with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

We believe you have:

  • experience in vehicle planning, fleet management, purchasing, technology, or similar
  • good understanding of vehicles, vehicle utilization, and lifecycle costs
  • experience in negotiation, supplier dialogue, and contracts
  • economic understanding, preferably linked to TCO, investments, or fixed assets
  • experience working with systems, data, key figures, and the Office suite
  • ability to communicate clearly in Swedish and English

Background from public transport, transport, leasing, larger vehicle fleets, workshop/maintenance, or technical purchasing environments is relevant. Post-secondary education in technology, economics, logistics, purchasing, or vehicles is an advantage, but relevant experience weighs heavily.

As a person, you are analytical, business-minded, and proactive. You like to understand how things connect, but do not lose sight of what decisions mean for operations, business, and the people who will use the solutions.

The role offers great scope and authority. Therefore, you need to be self-reliant, curious, and confident in driving issues forward. You also need to be clear, receptive, and good at building relationships with operational leaders, technology, maintenance, economics, purchasing, suppliers, and clients.

The Team

You will become part of the Technology Department at Vy Buss, a team of just over 10 people with competence in technology, safety, IT, maintenance, purchasing, property, internal control, and support.

Here there is both broad experience and deep specialist knowledge. You will work closely with the Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager, Purchasing Manager, and several other functions that are important for vehicles, technology, and operations to function together.

As Fleet Manager, you are expected to hold together the overall picture within the vehicle area and drive development forward.

Why Should You Work With Us?

This is a role for you who want authority, responsibility, and real impact – in an organization where ambitions and care go hand in hand.
