Our Employment Offer

In the role of Head of Nursing, you have overall responsibility for the strategic nursing work within the unit, covering both inpatient and outpatient care. Together with the unit managers, you are responsible for approximately 270 employees. You report to the Unit Director and are part of the unit's management group, where you are expected to play an active role. You also participate in other central forums within the hospital. To support you, you have access to a financial controller, HR partner, patient safety controller, quality developer, and education leader.

Job Description

Your main responsibilities:

  • Work strategically to develop nursing issues that lead to patient-safe, high-quality care. In collaboration with other leading functions/roles, ensure high patient safety, good patient interaction, and high care quality.
  • Be responsible for the overall economic budget of the units in collaboration with the Unit Director, subordinate managers, and the financial controller, and take necessary actions in case of deviations from the budget.
  • Work on developing perioperative care and day care together with the unit manager, Unit Director, and representatives from other departments at the hospital.
  • Have personnel responsibility for eight unit managers. Support/develop and create conditions for good leadership and a collaborative climate.
  • Collaborate with other heads of nursing within the hospital regarding competence supply, patient safety, and occupational health and safety issues.
  • Work with the unit's goals, strategies, and action plans based on the business plan, as well as follow up on the achievement of goals and results for units and employees.
  • In collaboration with the quality developer and education leader, create conditions for a good learning environment.
  • Drive continuous development and improvement work in accordance with the hospital's vision and values, with the aim of developing and streamlining operations.
  • Be responsible for occupational health and safety work according to current delegation, and work to continuously develop the work environment and create an attractive workplace for employees, students, and job seekers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with several years of experience in leadership positions with personnel and budget responsibility, as well as experience in leading other managers. You have experience from previous leadership roles in emergency care, preferably in surgical care. Documented leadership training is meritorious.

Research experience and academic degrees such as Master's, Magister, or PhD are also considered meritorious.

About the Unit

The Surgical and Urological Care Unit provides both emergency and elective surgery and urology, as well as operating activities in outpatient and inpatient care around the clock. We treat and care for patients primarily from Stockholm County, but also out-of-county and international patients with surgical or urological diseases. Patients are cared for at several different specialist clinics, two operating departments, and four care wards with different profile areas; colorectal surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric surgery, liver tumors, and urology. Approximately 460 employees work here.
